TL; DR
  • Samsung has released the first One UI 8 beta (based on Android 16) for the Galaxy S23 series and A-series phones like the A36, A35, A55, and A54.
  • Stable One UI 8 is not yet live for the Galaxy S25 series.
  • Galaxy S25 FE is expected to get it on September 4, possibly alongside the full rollout for the S25 series.

Samsung has officially started beta testing One UI 8, rolling it out to the Galaxy S23 lineup (S23, S23+, S23 Ultra) and a range of A-series phones including the Galaxy A36, Galaxy A35, Galaxy A55, and Galaxy A54. This is Samsung’s next major software step, as the update is built on Android 16.

The One UI 8 beta highlights include AI live call translation, improved photo editing tools like Object Eraser and generative fill, and smarter battery management through adaptive charging. It also includes improved Goodlock modules, a refreshed notification shade, and more customization options for widgets and themes.

Samsung has opened the beta to select regions for now—South Korea, the US, Germany, and India—accessible through the Samsung Members app. As always with beta software, the company warns about possible bugs and instability.

It’s worth noting that the stable build of One UI 8 is still not released. Currently, only the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7 are running it. The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to launch with stable One UI 8 on September 4, and hopefully, we might see the Galaxy S25 series get its official update the same day. The stable version for all supported devices is expected late 2025.
