TL; DR
- Samsung has launched the One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S26 series, with India among the first six countries to receive access.
- Key additions include independent Quick Panel controls, Samsung Notes creative tools, built-in Creative Studio in Contacts, proactive security threat blocking, and a unified TalkBack experience.
- The stable One UI 9 release will debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, expected in July 2026, with new Galaxy AI features included.
Less than 24 hours after pushing stable One UI 8.5 to eligible Galaxy devices worldwide, the company has announced the One UI 9 beta, and India is one of the first six countries to get it. The beta is based on Android 17 and is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 (review), S26+ (review), and S26 Ultra (review). It will start rolling out to the devices this week.
What’s New In Samsung’s One UI 9?
Samsung is pitching One UI 9 around four broad themes: creative tools, customization, accessibility, and security. Starting with the Quick Panel, which now offers more granular control over its layout, wherein the brightness, volume, and media player controls can now be resized and repositioned independently.

Another change is in the Contacts app, which now has Creative Studio built directly into it for creating personalized contact cards without switching between apps. To me, the feature sounds similar to the Contact Poster feature available on iOS.

Samsung Notes gets two additions that matter most to students and creatives: decorative tapes for visual annotation and a wider selection of pen line styles for more expressive handwriting and sketching.

On the security front, One UI 9 gets more proactive about threat detection from flagged apps. If the system identifies an app as high-risk, it now automatically stops it from being installed or running, alerts the user about it, and nudges them toward uninstalling it, instead of warning the user and moving on.
There are two new accessibility updates as well. First, Mouse Key speed is now adjustable for smoother cursor navigation. Second, Samsung and Google have merged the two separate TalkBack implementations on Galaxy devices into a single, unified experience.
There’s a new Text Spotlight feature that also lets users pop selected text into a larger floating window, for easier reading, useful for people with visual impairments.

How To Sign Up For The One UI 9 Beta Program?
If you have a Galaxy S26 device in India, you can sign up for the beta in the Samsung Members app. Enrollment isn’t live yet, but Samsung has confirmed it will commence with the registrations this week.
When Does The One UI 9 Stable Version Arrive?
Samsung has confirmed that it will launch One UI 9’s stable version with new hardware later this year. The company is likely talking about the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, and the new Galaxy Z Wide Fold, which are expected to break cover during an event in July 2026.
The stable release should also come along with new Galaxy AI features that the company hasn’t released yet. Existing Galaxy S26 owners should expect the stable rollout to follow the foldable launch, though there’s no specific timeline yet. Google’s own stable Android 17 release is also expected within the coming weeks.
