Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series has run on its own Exynos chips since 2021. That changes with the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, announced at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026. Both watches now run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite, a 3nm penta-core chip that Samsung says delivers significantly better performance and power efficiency than its predecessor.

Galaxy Watch 9 & Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Pricing & Availability
Pre-orders opened globally on July 22, with general availability starting August 7. The global starting price for the Galaxy Watch 9 is $349 (40mm, Bluetooth), while the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 starts at $699. In India, the Galaxy Watch 9 (40mm) starts from ₹39,999, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 starts from ₹69,999.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: What’s New
Ultra 2’s 800mAh battery is 35% larger than the original Watch Ultra, and Samsung has achieved this while making the watch 12% thinner, a notable engineering feat. The display is the world’s first smartwatch panel to reach 5,000 nits. Durability is rated at 10ATM, IP69K, MIL-STD-810H, and EN13319, the last being a diving standard.
In partnership with Mares, Samsung has added auto-dive detection that logs depth, time, and water temperature the moment you enter water. Trail Run mode tracks elevation, climbing progress, and terrain impact, while Nutrition Alert provides real-time hydration guidance based on sweat loss estimates.
Galaxy Watch 9: What’s New
Watch 9 keeps Samsung’s signature cushion silhouette in a lightweight aluminum casing, now with a 3,000-nit peak display and either a 390mAh (40mm) or 445mAh (44mm) battery. The focus is on all-day comfort and 24/7 health tracking. A wide range of soft-touch interchangeable bands, including Sports, Misty, and Fabric, is available from launch.
Both watches introduce Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, Fitness Index, updated Sleep Apnea detection with new FDA clearance, Vitals baseline monitoring, and Hearing health alerts. Both also include a 60-day Strava free trial and a 2-month iFIT trial, the latter available in India.
