All four colors are available on Dell’s online store starting today. Linen is already in Dell Exclusive Stores, big retailers, and online shops. The other three colors will reach those places by the end of November.
Launch offers are strong. You get zero down payment, no-cost EMI with select banks and NBFCs, instant card discounts up to ₹10,000, and one year of Accidental Damage Protection for ₹499.
XPS 13 Costs the Same
Dell left out a key number in the press release. Back in July, Dell launched the XPS 13 in India at ₹79,990. That’s a 1 kg aluminum laptop with the same Intel Core Series 3 chips, a 2.5K touchscreen, and Thunderbolt 4.
So why pick the 14S? It’s about color and battery. The XPS 13 gives you two finishes. The 14S offers four, and Dell claims better battery life. If the XPS 13 is still around ₹79,990 and has more RAM, that’s the better buy for most people. The 14S is for you if you want a specific color.
Design: four colors, all aluminum
The 14S is 13.5mm thick and starts at 1.15kg. Every color gets the same aluminum chassis for the same price. That’s rare. Usually, you pay more for the interesting finishes.

The colors matter more than the spec sheet suggests. Most Windows laptops at this price are silver, grey, or black. If you’re a student carrying your laptop to every class for four years, having something that doesn’t look like office gear is a real plus.

Performance: built for browsers, not Premiere Pro
The Core 5 320 and Core 7 350 belong to Intel’s Wildcat Lake family. These are trimmed-down versions of the Core Ultra Series 3 chips, built for browsing, streaming, and light editing. Both have six CPU cores and integrated graphics. The Core 5 boosts up to 4.6GHz with a 16 TOPS NPU; the Core 7 hits 4.8GHz and 17 TOPS.
That NPU number is far below the 40 TOPS Microsoft wants for Copilot+ PC features. You get some on-device AI acceleration, but this isn’t a Copilot+ PC. For documents, Google Docs, Zoom, and lots of Chrome tabs, you’ll be fine. For video editing or gaming, you’ll want something else.
The 8GB problem
The memory is LPDDR5X and soldered to the board. What you buy is what you keep for the laptop’s life.
By 2026, 8GB will feel tight for Windows 11 and a modern browser. It gets even tighter by year three. If you want this laptop to last through a degree, pick the ₹1,09,990 model with 16GB.
Display: two very different screens
Both screens are 14-inch, 16:10 IPS panels. The Core 5 models use a 1920 x 1200 panel at 60Hz and 300 nits. Dell calls it 2K, but it’s really just Full HD with a bit more vertical space. It works indoors, but you might struggle near a bright window.
The Core 7 model steps up to a 2880 x 1800 panel at 120Hz and 450 nits. It’s sharper, smoother, and brighter. You’ll pay ₹30,000 more than for the 16GB Core 5 version.

Battery: what the 21-hour claim means
Dell claims up to 21 hours of Netflix streaming from the 61.2Wh battery. That number comes from Dell’s own lab test on a Core 5 320 setup with 8GB RAM, a 256GB SSD, and the screen set to 150 nits. That’s pretty dim.
With efficient chips and a large battery for a 1.15kg laptop, this should easily last a college day.

Ports and connectivity
You get two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports with DisplayPort 1.4 and charging, one HDMI 1.4 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s no Thunderbolt and no USB-A. For wireless, you get Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. There’s also a 1080p webcam, dual microphones, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
HDMI 1.4 only supports up to 4K at 30Hz. If you want to use a 4K monitor, plug it into USB-C instead. Most students won’t notice. If you use fast external SSDs or a docking station, look at the XPS 13.
