Samsung’s foldables are among the most-awaited launches of the year. Last year, the Korean giant revealed the Fold 6 (review) and the Flip 6 (review) in July, and if everything goes right, we should see their successors in a couple of months.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Flip 7 are two very important handsets for the company. Over the last few years, Samsung has experienced sluggish sales in the segment it pioneered a few years ago. To remedy that, the company is also working on more affordable versions of the foldables, which fall beyond the scope of today’s roundup.
For now, let’s focus on the mainstream foldables about to go official in July 2025. Here’s everything we know about the Fold 7 and the Flip 7.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7 Roundup: Design
Galaxy Z Fold 7

Earlier this year, Android Headlines (with exclusive CAD renders) claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would measure just 4.5mm when unfolded and 9.5mm when folded (including the camera bump).
Without the camera bump, the measurement would come close to 9mm, making the Fold 7 one of the thinnest book-style foldables (barring some Chinese models).
Per the publication, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will measure 158.4 x 143.1 x 4.5 mm when unfolded. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (153.5 x 132.6 x 5.6 mm), the phone is around 4.9 mm longer, 10.5 mm wider, and 1.1 mm thinner than its predecessor.
Apart from these changes, the phone retains its boxy corners, thin inner and outer bezels, and a minimalistic overall look. And yes, we’ve heard that the Fold 7 will come with an IP48 dust and water resistance rating (same as the Fold 6).

Galaxy Z Flip 7

While the Fold 7 looks like an iterative update over the Fold 6, the Flip 7 could ship with a radical change, and that’s related to its cover display. The same publication also published the renders of the Flip 7 with a large cover screen, indicating that the flip-style foldable could ditch the folder-shaped cover display this year.
Yes, both cameras will reside inside the display, much like they do on the Moto Razr series. The cover screen will expand in all directions and shrink down the bezels. However, as we can see in the renders, the difference in the outer and the inner bezels (the latter being thicker) looks odd.
Besides the expansion of the cover screen, though, we aren’t expecting any significant changes in the Flip 7’s design. And no, the phone won’t be thinner than its predecessor. The rumored dimensions are 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9 mm, making the Flip 7 around 1.5 mm longer and 3.3 mm wider.
Like the Fold 7, the Flip 7 should also feature an IP48 dust and water resistance rating.

Galaxy Z Fold 7

In the design section, we discussed how the Fold 7 is considerably wider than the Fold 6. The additional width makes room for more screen estate, which is why the Fold 7 will have bigger inner and outer screens. How much, you ask?
Per reports, the book-style foldable might come with a 6.5-inch screen cover screen (up from 6.3-inch on the Fold 6) and an 8.2-inch inner screen (about 7.9% bigger than the 7.6-inch screen on the Fold 6). The increase in the inner screen’s size will make the Fold 7 the largest foldable by the company.
In addition to being bigger, the Fold 7’s screen will be better in the sense that it might feature Samsung’s creaseless foldable panel, the one showcased by the company at the MWC 2025. The screen could also come with new layers that improve durability and robustness.
However, other reports also claim that the screen might not be ready for this year’s foldable launch.
Galaxy Z Flip 7

Some solid rumors suggest that the Flip 7 will feature a larger cover screen (four inches up from 3.4 inches) and a larger inner screen of 6.8 inches (up from 6.7 inches). As mentioned earlier, the cover screen will extend from one corner of the upper half to the other.
In addition, we could also see an improved display, with less visible creases and better durability. It is imperative to mention that the Moto Razr series features a smoother cover screen.
For instance, the Moto Razr 50 has a 90Hz AMOLED cover screen, while the Razr 50 Ultra has a 165Hz AMOLED screen (same as the inner screen). We also expect Samsung to improve the screen’s peak brightness, especially that of the external display.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7 Roundup: Performance & Software

Like the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung’s upcoming foldables are expected to feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3nm) SoC, which makes sense. The chipset offers a 45% boost in CPU performance while maintaining a higher efficiency (up to 40%) than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on the Fold 6 and the Flip 6.
With the new chipset, the Fold 7 is also rumored to get a larger vapor chamber, which would help the foldable sustain its peak performance. Besides, the handsets could feature at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Unlike the S25 Ultra, the Fold 7 and Flip 7 may not have 16GB of memory and a 1TB storage variant.
According to a report by SamMobile, Samsung could pack the foldables One UI 8.0 based on Android 16. On the one hand, it is exciting to hear about the upcoming operating system, as it could come with some new Galaxy AI smarts. On the other hand, the company is still rolling out One UI 7.0 for all eligible devices.

Nonetheless, Google is expected to unveil Android 16 in June 2025, with features like Live Updates, a new app photo picker, support for health records, etc.
If the Korean giant manages to complete development and ship One UI 8 out of the box, it will be a major feat, considering that foldables would become one of the first smartphones to ship with Android 16 out of the box.
On the off chance that this doesn’t happen, the 2025 foldable will run on Samsung One UI 7 out of the box and be upgraded to One UI 8 in the coming months. In any case, the phones will still get seven years of Android and security updates.

Galaxy Z Fold 7

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 could feature a 200MP (f/1.8) primary camera, the same sensor that debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Special Edition in Korea and China. If that happens, the phone should be able to click much clearer pictures than it does from the current 50MP (f/1.8) primary camera.
Other than the primary camera, the phone should feature a 10MP (f/2.4) lens with 3x optical zoom, a 12MP (f/2.2) ultrawide sensor with a 123° field of view, and a 10MP (f/2.2) selfie camera on the cover screen.
The 4MP (f/1.8) under-display camera should also get an upgrade, but what the upgrade entails isn’t clear yet. Whether it’s a higher-resolution camera or one that captures better-quality images than the current generation, a new under-display camera is a much-awaited upgrade for the Fold 7.
Galaxy Z Flip 7

The Flip 7 might not get any camera-related upgrades after all. For now, we’re expecting the flip-style foldable to feature the same 50MP (f/1.8) primary camera and the 12MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera with a 123° field of view. On the front, the phone should have a 10MP selfie shooter.
There’s a chance that the cameras can get new sensors, but we don’t have a solid rumor to support that theory. We do expect Samsung to equip the Fold 7 and Flip 7 with new Galaxy AI features for photography.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7 Roundup: Battery
Galaxy Z Fold 7

This is perhaps the most disappointing part of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 roundup, as the handset is expected to arrive with the same 4,400 mAh battery that Samsung has used for the last three years, along with support for 25W fast wired charging. Why?
We think it’s to keep the phone’s side profile in check, making it as thin as possible. Further, the phone features the Snapdragon 8 Elite (3nm) chipset, which is much more power-efficient than its predecessor.
Hence, Samsung might be able to extract a couple more hours from the same battery (if the overclocking and the larger screen estate don’t offset the efficiency factor by much). Reports also suggest that the Fold 7 could support 15W wireless charging, utilizing the Qi 2.0 protocol.
However, the Fold 7 will arrive at a time when other popular book-style foldables, like the Oppo Find N5 and the Honor Magic V3, flaunt 5,600 mAh and 5,150 mAh Si/C batteries, respectively. Could Samsung surprise us by packing a larger battery in the Fold 7? We hope so.
Galaxy Z Flip 7

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 bumped up the battery capacity from 3,700 mAh to 4,000 mAh. Interestingly, the Flip 7 is expected to do the same. Recent rumors suggest the foldable will feature a 4,300 mAh battery, yet another welcome upgrade.
Combining the increase in battery capacity with the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s power efficiency, we should see significant battery life improvements on the Flip 7, potentially better than those on the Fold 7. The phone will last even longer if Samsung equips the cover screen with a variable refresh rate.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7 Roundup: Release Date & Price (Expected)
In 2023, Samsung held its summer Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26. In 2024, the event was moved forward to July 10. Hence, we expect Samsung to unveil the latest generation of foldables in July 2025, with general availability in a few weeks.
Regarding the price, Samsung already hiked the prices of its foldables by $100 last year. The Fold 7 and Flip 7 debuted at $1,899.99 or Rs. 1,64,999 and $1,099.99 or Rs. 1,09,999, respectively. Given that the foldables aren’t the company’s best-selling handsets, it won’t make much sense to increase the prices this year.
