  • The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could show up in an Unpacked event in July 2025, with general availability following a few days later in the same month.

Samsung May Release One UI 8 Alongside Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7

According to a new report by SamMobile, Samsung is gearing up to pack its upcoming foldables with an operating system based on Android 16. The upcoming Galaxy Z models, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7, could run on One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box.

While this implies that the company must have already begun working on One UI 8 (even though One UI 7’s rollout isn’t complete), it also means that the 2025 Galaxy Z series could be among the first handsets to run on Android 16.

Android 16 beta 1 releases for pixel devices

Given that Google is about to release Android 16 in June 2025, it makes sense for Samsung to debut its latest foldables running on the operating system one month later. However, that is the extent of information we have about One UI 8 at the moment.

Meanwhile, we do have some idea about the new features coming as part of Android 16. They include Live Updates (similar to Live Activities on iOS), a new and improved photo picker for developers, support for health records (via an update to Health Connect), improved adaptive refresh rate, etc.

Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7 Release Timeline (Expected)

Although the company hasn’t confirmed a launch timeline for the next generation of foldables, Samsung reveals the devices in July every year. Last year, the company conducted a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024, and the phones became available later that month.

If everything goes well, the company could follow a similar launch timeline this year as well. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could show up in an Unpacked event in July 2025, with general availability following a few days later in the same month (or early August, depending on when the launch event takes place).
