Yesterday we talked about Finnish brand HMD working on HMD Hyper smartphone that might launch soon. Before that happens, the company has announced HMD Fusion globally with premium grade specs and modular design. HMD Fusion also comes with various smart functional cases with different functionalities which are called ‘Smart/Fusion Outfits’. The smartphone comes with a self-repairable design and can be paired with needful smart case as needed.

HMD Fusion: Price
HMD Fusion starts at 249 Euros aka Rs. 23,400 approximately and comes in a single black color. It will roll out globally soon. The Smart Outfits will be up for sale later this year.
HMD Fusion: Specs
The HMD Fusion smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset paired with Adreno GPU, up to 8GB RAM, and up to 256GB storage. The storage is expandable using a microSD card. The phone sports a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 600 nits brightness. It runs Android 14 OS and has been promised two years of OS updates.

In terms of the camera, there is a 108MP main sensor at the back with EIS along with a 2MP depth sensor. There is a 50MP selfie snapper at the front. Under the hood is a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS and USB Type-C port. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio. HMD Fusion comes with an IP54 rating and measures 164.15×75.5×8.32mm, with a weight of 202.5 grams.
HMD Fusion features a modular design with a six-pin connector on the back to enable new kinds of cases that add to the smartphone’s functionality. HMD is calling them ‘Smart Outfits’. Just like HMD Skyline, it comes with Gen2 repairability with easy display back cover, battery, and charging port repairs through iFixit.

HMD has launched four Smart Outfits with HMD Fusion. Each outfit alters the hardware and software of the device and offers new capabilities, unique interfaces, and enhanced performance. Let us talk about each outfit that has been launched.
Flashy Outfit
This outfit adds a built-in ring for both front and rear cameras, offering customizable lighting and camera effects through the camera app.
Casual Outfit
The case offers an industrial chic design and provides minimal protection while maintaining a sleek look. You can choose from an array of colored casual outfits.
Rugged Outfit
As the name suggests, the rugged outfit offers better protection for outdoor adventures. It adds IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance and brings wireless charging support with magnets in case of emergency.
Wireless Outfit
It brings wireless charging support with magnets and can charge at 5W speed. There are various colors to choose from.
Fusion Kit
HMD has launched the Fusion Kit, a user-friendly developer kit that combines open-source software and hardware. According to HMD, at least one third-party partner is dedicated to creating their own solutions for vertical applications.
