Samsung’s first Android XR smart glasses have leaked in full, revealing their hardware specifications, battery life, and frame designs from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Samsung introduced the glasses at Galaxy Unpacked in July but hasn’t announced a launch date or price yet. The latest rumor points to a November launch.

Samsung’s Android XR Glasses: Specs and Features

Samsung introduced its Intelligent Eyewear in July as a collaboration with Google and Qualcomm. The glasses run Android XR and reportedly use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, a chip designed for lightweight smart glasses rather than the more demanding hardware found in the Galaxy XR headset.

While Samsung confirmed the platform and Gemini integration at the time, the latest leak from SammyGuru reveals more details. The glasses reportedly pack a 12MP camera capable of recording 3K video at 30fps, alongside four microphones and two open-ear speakers. The leaked specifications also list 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Gemini can use the camera to understand what the wearer is looking at. Users can photograph a whiteboard and transfer its contents to Notes, translate speech in real time, have messages read aloud, or ask questions about objects and scenes in front of them.

Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset, the glasses don’t have a built-in display. Instead, they rely on audio for feedback, keeping the design closer to conventional eyewear.

Battery life, weight, and compatibility

The leaked specifications list up to 9 hours of battery life on the glasses themselves and up to 72 hours with the charging case. The glasses carry an IPX4 rating, meaning they can handle splashes and sweat, although the case has no stated water-resistance rating.

They reportedly weigh around 41g with standard lenses. The final weight can vary depending on the frame and whether prescription lenses are fitted.

The glasses are expected to work with both Android phones and iPhones. However, some features may remain exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices, while software availability could vary by region. The leak, for instance, mentions Naver Maps support in South Korea.

Gentle Monster and Warby Parker frame designs

Samsung is working with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker on the eyewear designs. The leaked images reportedly show the available frame shapes and color combinations.

Gentle Monster has six frame shapes: squared, round, another square-style design, cat-eye, slim oval, and oval. These come in 16 combinations of frame colors and lens tints, including clear, light blue, gray, brown, black, burgundy, cream, and pale lilac.

Warby Parker’s lineup includes three styles: Alden, Reid, and Wren. Alden and Reid come in multiple frame colors, including Pine dark green and Saddle dark red, while Wren is listed only in Jet Black. All three styles can be paired with clear or dark lenses, bringing the total to 10 versions.

Gentle Monster’s versions are expected to be available in South Korea and the US, while Warby Parker’s designs may be limited to the US at launch. Buyers are expected to find the glasses through Samsung Experience Stores and the eyewear brands’ own websites and retail stores.

Samsung’s Android XR glasses: Launch date and price

Samsung hasn’t announced pricing or confirmed a launch date for its smart glasses. November is the latest rumored launch window, but that remains unconfirmed.

Unlike the Galaxy XR headset, which focuses on immersive experiences, these glasses are designed for everyday use. Their conventional frames, camera, microphones, speakers, and Gemini integration put the focus on hands-free AI assistance without a display.

How well that works in daily use will depend on battery performance, software support, and the eventual price.
