TL;DR
  • LG and Apple have joined forces on a new Apple Home collection of smart home accessories. The lineup includes indoor and outdoor cameras, a wired video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, a smart thermostat, and a temperature sensor.
  • These devices work with Apple Home, Siri, the Home app, Matter over Thread, and LG ThinQ. They use end-to-end encryption to keep your data private. LG says this lineup moves its Zero Labor Home vision forward.
  • Neither Apple nor LG has announced when these products will launch in India.

LG Electronics has launched a new set of smart home accessories built for Apple’s HomeKit. The lineup covers indoor and outdoor cameras, a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, a smart thermostat, and a temperature sensor. LG says these products aim to make daily home life simpler, more reliable, and more private for Apple Home users.

LG says these accessories advance its Zero Labor Home goal. The goal is to reduce manual steps and make it easier for people to interact with their homes.

“Creating a truly connected home requires products that work seamlessly together,” said Kihyun Jung, head of the Platform Business Center at LG Home Appliance Solution. “By bringing LG’s expertise in home appliances and the home environment together with the Apple Home, we are creating intuitive, integrated experiences that fit naturally into customers’ daily lives.”

Apple says this partnership reflects its focus on privacy and ease of use.

“Apple has always focused on making products and experiences that are seamless and intuitive, and protect our users’ privacy — and that matters more than ever in the home,” said Matthew Costello, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering. “Combining our hardware and software expertise with LG’s deep understanding of the home and connected living lets us build smart home experiences that are simpler to set up, are easier to control, and work effortlessly.”

A Closer Partnership Than Just Compatibility

LG and Apple didn’t just make existing devices compatible with Apple Home. They built these products together from the ground up, working as a team on hardware, software, and user experience. LG says this approach creates a more consistent setup and control experience.

For example, users can use the Home app or Siri to trigger a ‘Good Morning’ scene. This will adjust the thermostat and tilt the indoor camera down while they get ready.

The New Lineup

Cameras

LG’s new cameras record up to 2.5K video, handle low-light color night vision, and cover a wide angle. On-device intelligence spots people, pets, vehicles, and motion, so alerts are more relevant, and you get fewer unnecessary notifications. I can block certain areas from being recorded, and built-in local storage gives me more control over my footage.

The LG Indoor Cam Plug-In has a 160° field of view, so it captures more of the room in one shot. Use the privacy tilt and physical controls to turn off monitoring when you don’t need it.

The LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In is built for reliable outdoor monitoring.

The LG Floodlight Cam uses two adaptive floodlights that turn on automatically when they detect activity.

LG Video Doorbell Wired

The wired doorbell uses two cameras: a 2.5K front camera and a Full HD bottom camera. This setup captures separate views of visitors, packages, and key spots near the door. It spots people, vehicles, pets, and packages, and plays a chime through Apple HomeView, HomePod, or HomePod mini. Low-light color night vision and two-way talk make it easier to see and respond to what’s happening at the door.

Deadbolt Lock

The smart lock lets you unlock the door hands-free with a home key on your iPhone or Apple Watch. It uses Ultra-Wideband to recognize location and movement. You can also use NFC tap, a PIN code, or a physical key to get in. Built-in door sensing and real-time app notifications help you keep track of door status and security events.

LG Smart Thermostat and LG Temperature Sensor

The thermostat works with Apple’s Adaptive Temperature, so it can adjust heating and cooling based on whether you’re home, away, or asleep. If you add LG Temperature Sensors in other rooms, the system tracks temperature and humidity for more even comfort. Matter over Thread keeps the connection low-power and responsive, with fewer delays or offline issues.

Privacy in Apple Home

LG and Apple emphasized that privacy is foundational to the experience. According to the announcement, camera footage and personal data in the Home app are stored end-to-end encrypted and are not accessible to LG or Apple.

Availability

LG and Apple will roll out the full lineup in the United States and Canada in December, with some accessories coming early next year. In the United Kingdom, indoor and outdoor cameras and the video doorbell will be available in December. Neither Apple nor LG has shared any details for India.

LG and Apple haven’t shared pricing or exact launch dates for each product.
