TL; DR
  • Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide has leaked via CAD renders.
  • It brings a wider form factor similar to OPPO Find N2-style foldables.
  • Expected to launch alongside Fold8 this summer, targeting the upcoming Apple Fold.

Samsung is preparing a second book-style foldable this year, and this one is very different. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide has now surfaced in CAD renders, shared by Android Headlines in collaboration with OnLeaks.

This model is designed around a wider form factor, which directly aligns with what Apple is expected to do with its upcoming foldable iPhone. Instead of the tall, narrow design Samsung has been using, this moves toward a more tablet-like layout when opened and a more usable screen when folded.

Design Feels Familiar, Just Wider

Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide

Looking at the renders, the Fold8 Wide has a noticeably broader shape. It looks closer to devices like the OPPO Find N2, which many people already consider a more practical foldable design.

The outer display appears shorter but wider, which should make it feel more like a regular phone in everyday use. The back design is simpler this time, with a dual camera setup, though the module itself looks quite thick and could cause some wobble on flat surfaces.

Displays and Dimensions

The Fold8 Wide is expected to feature a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner display. While the diagonal sizes look slightly smaller than the regular Fold8, the wider aspect ratio changes how the screen is actually used.

In terms of size, it measures around 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.9 mm when unfolded, and about 4.3 mm excluding protrusions. When folded, it comes in at 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8 mm, going up to 14.6 mm including the camera bump.

Specs Stay Largely the Same

Internally, the Fold8 Wide is expected to stay close to the standard Fold8. It should be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, with 12 GB or 16 GB RAM and storage options up to 1 TB.

Battery capacity is expected to be around 5,000 mAh, paired with 45W wired charging and likely 25W wireless charging.

Built to Compete With Apple

This device clearly targets Apple’s upcoming foldable. Apple is rumored to go with a similar wide design, and Samsung is aligning its hardware to match that direction.

Pricing is expected to stay close to $2,000, similar to the regular Fold lineup, keeping it in the same premium segment.

Launch Timeline

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 at Samsung’s summer Unpacked event. This typically happens in July, though this year it could shift slightly later.
