Five New EVs By 2030 & A Million Chargers: Tata’s Big Electric Push

2026 will be a busy year for Tata Motors, as the company plans to launch a couple of new EVs in the country. The company announced its EV plans at an event, where it also confirmed it would sell 2.5 lakh electric cars in India, accounting for around 66% of all electric vehicles sold in the country.

While Tata Motors already has a vast portfolio of electric vehicles, including the electric versions of Tiago, Tigor, Punch, Nexon, Curvv, and Harrier, it is set to expand its portfolio with the launch of the Sierrav EV in 2026.

The vehicle could offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. While its exterior could feature several EV-specific elements, such as a closed-off front panel, it could be based on the same platform as the recently launched Harrier EV: acti.ev+.

Sierra EV set to headline Tata’s 2026 launches

Furthermore, the Sierra EV could share the battery packs used on the Harrier EV: a 65-kWh pack and a 75-kWh pack. Alongside the Sierra EV, Tata Motors will launch an updated version of the Punch EV and a facelifted ICE Punch.

Alongside these models, Tata will launch its premium electric vehicle, the Avinya, which is expected to debut by the end of 2026. Even if the company doesn’t begin selling the EV, it could launch it and reveal it at a launch event, then release it and commence deliveries in January 2027.

Five EVs in five years, and a million chargers to match

In addition to these three new nameplates, Tata Motors is preparing to unveil three new electric vehicles between FY2027 and FY2030. In other words, the automaker will release five new EVs in the next five years (barring the Punch EV).

The company is also expanding its charging infrastructure (with plans to set up a million charge points by the year 2030).
