Xiaomi Mi A1 Launched In India: Specifications, Features, Launch Offers

In line with what we reported yesterday, Xiaomi has launched Mi A1 smartphone in India. This new phone is a part of the new A-series that will have stock Android phones. Since the Mi A1 will boot out of the box on stock android, it is highly unlikely to see a China launch as Google play services which are essential for the phone don’t work in the country.

What’s special about the Xiaomi Mi A1?

Xiaomi Mi A1 Build Quality and Display

The Xiaomi Mi A1 has an all metal body with a 5.5-inch display and 2.5D glass fascia. Rounded corner ensures good ergonomics. Xiaomi uses a full HD IPS screen which has 1920 x1080p resolution, 401 PPI pixel density and 70.1 percent screen to body ratio.

or, in other words, it’s the same as Mi 5x on the outside. It will be available in three colors – Black, Gold, and Rose Gold.

Mi A1 Performance – Snapdragon 625, Xiaomi’s trusted horse

Xiaomi has once again gone for Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 SoC which it has used in the likes of Redmi Note 4 and Mi Max 2. The 2.0GHz Octa-core processor is assisted by Adreno 506 and 4GB RAM. But since this time the SoC has to drive a relatively lighter stock Android software, you can expect a more durable and snappier experience.

If you have been following Xiaomi, then you must be aware that it always offer multiple variants its phone. The Mi A1 Comes with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM model in India. For now, it will retail only in one variant

Xiaomi Mi A1 Camera

The Mi A1 Dual camera setup includes a 12-megapixel wide angle lens(26mm, f/2.2) and a 12-megapixel telephoto (50mm, f/2.6). It also supports phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. This iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Note 8 and OnePlus 5 like setup allow a user to go up to 2x optical zoom. It can shoot 4K video @30fps and slo-mos at 720@120fps.

Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera which also supports full HD video recording.

Xiaomi Mi A1 Software, connectivity and Battery

The Mi A1 will boot out of the box on stock Android. Since it is a part of Android One ecosystem, Google gaurantees timely security patches, Android Oreo by the end of this year, and Android P next year!

The Xiaomi A1 support 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB type C as connectivity options. It has an audio jack and supports FM radio. The phone comes with 3080mAh battery which is non-removable.

Xiaomi Mi A1 Price, Availability and Launch Offer

Xiaomi Mi A1 price in India is set at Rs. 14,999. It will be available on Flipkart and Mi.com. The Mi A1 first sale will take place on September 12. You can also buy it from offline Mi Home stores starting from the same day (September 12).

As a launch offer, Xiaomi is partnered with Airtel for 200GB data to Mi A1 consumers. It will be available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold hues.
