Xiaomi Mi 5X With MIUI 9, Dual Rear Cameras Launched, Sale Begins From August

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has brought out its latest offering, a handset named as the Mi 5X, in its home country. The phone is the first from the company’s portfolio to come out sporting its latest MIUI 9 skin on top of the Android OS (which is the latest 7.1.1 version in this case).

The Mi 5X spports a 5.5-inch Full HD LTPS display, and comes clad in a metal unibody with a design very reminiscent of the iPhone 7 Plus. It runs on the company’s latest very of its own skin, the MIUI 9, which is based on the very latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

It is powered by a 64 bit octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset, which clocks in at a maximum frequency of 2GHz, and is supported by a 4GB RAM.

In the optics department, the Mi 5X boasts of a twin 12MP (second one has wide-angle lens) camera unit on its back, with the former coming in with a f/2.6 aperture and a 1-micron pixel sensor, while the latter has a f/2.2 aperture and a 1.25-micron pixel sensor.

Up front, it has a 5MP snapper with real time beautification to enthuse the selfie enthusiasts.

The inbuilt storage space is 64GB which can be stretched to a maximum of 128GB upon using external sources. Furthermore, a 3,080mAh power unit has been put into place inside the phone to keep it alive.

Rounding off the set of notable specifications of the phone are its connectivity options, that include G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone is currently available only in China, and comes in a couple of color options (Pink, Gold, Black).

Regarding the sale of the Mi 5X, it will start from August 1 (10 a.m.), while the registrations for the sale are already open. Xiaomi has set the price of the phone at CNY 1,499 (approx. Rs. 14,200).
