Xiaomi Mi 5 might come in two versions: all you need to know

Even though there is no official word from Xiaomi on the launch date of Mi 5, still rumor circles are buzzing with new revelations about this much-anticipated flagship device. The latest rumor has it that the Chinese company will launch not one but two different variants of Mi 5 next month.

Based on the insider sources, a Chinese tech website MyDrivers reported that Xiaomi is working on two different models for Mi5.  According to MyDriver claims, the basic variant of Mi 5 will sport a 2.5D curved glass on both front and black with a metal frame on the sides. This basic variant will sport a 5.2-inch 1080P display. On the other hand, the premier variant of Xiaomi Mi 5 said to feature a metal-clad design and a 5-2-inch QHD display with a resolution of 1440x2560p.

Xiaomi has recruited Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset  and coupled it with Adreno 530 GPU for Mi 5. As per rumors, the basic glass variant will feature 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage while the premium version will get 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage to rock and roll. There are no details available with regards to media expansion slot in Xiaomi Mi 5.

According to earlier leaks, a 16-megapixel primary shooter with dual tone LED flash could star at the rear side while a 13-megapixel front camera can be expected on Xiaomi Mi 5. It also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 features to refill a 3600mAh non-removable battery. Xiaomi Mi 5 will get a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button at the front. In all probability, it will run on latest version of MIUI 7 which will be based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Xiaomi is expected to make an official announcement of the launch date of Mi 5 on 21 January in China. Earlier, Liwan Jiang – co-founder and VP of Xiaomi, stated that Xiaomi Mi 5 will be launched sometime around Chinese New Year.
