Xiaomi recently launched its latest flagship devices, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphones in India. The Xiaomi 14 competes directly with two other flagship devices from Vivo and OnePlus: the Vivo X100 and the OnePlus 12, respectively, in terms of pricing and features.

Price and Availability 

Let’s compare the most important aspect of smartphones first—the price. The Xiaomi 14 is available in only one variant, which is 12 GB RAM + 512 GB UFS 4.0 storage for INR 69,999. The Vivo X100 and the OnePlus 12 are both available in two variants—12 GB RAM + 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage and 16 GB RAM + 512 GB UFS 4.0 storage.

The Vivo X100’s 12 GB RAM variant will cost you INR 63,999 while the 16 GB variant will cost INR 69,999. The OnePlus 12 takes the sweet spot with the 12 GB RAM variant costing INR 64,999 and the 16 GB variant costing INR 69,999. Here’s a chart for easy understanding:

All the smartphones have a glass back and an aluminum frame to sandwich the rest of the phone. The Xiaomi 14 goes for all in for a boxy design and flat sides to complement the flat display. The Vivo X100 and the OnePlus 12, on the other hand, favor a more rounded design with curved sides and a curved display.

The Xiaomi 14 and the OnePlus 12 have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and Victus 2 protection on the front, respectively; while the Vivo X100 has Schott Xensation Alpha protection, which is equivalent to Gorilla Gorilla 6. Again, the Xiaomi 14 and the OnePlus 12 have USB 3.2 ports while the X100 settles for USB 2.0.

On the display front, all the smartphones offer the top-of-the-line flagship specs. The Xiaomi 14 has a fairly compact 6.36-inch LTPO 120 Hz OLED with a resolution of 1200 x 2670 pixels and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. The typical brightness in HBM, however, is 1000 nits. Not to mention, the Xiaomi 14 has a flat display.

The OnePlus 12 and the Vivo X100 have larger curved displays that melt into the devices’ frames. The Vivo X100 6.78-inch LTPO 120 Hz OLED with a resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels and a peak brightness of 3000 nits.

Overall, the OnePlus 12 has the best display among the three. It has a higher peak brightness, slightly higher resolution, and better protection with the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Let’s now compare the most exciting part of the three smartphones—the cameras. The Xiaomi 14 features an impressive camera setup, including a 50 MP, f/1.6 main lens with OIS, and a sensor size of 1/1.31 inches for stable shots. 

It also boasts a 50 MP, f/2.0 telephoto lens with OIS and 3.2x optical zoom, ideal for capturing distant subjects with clarity. Additionally, there’s a 50 MP, f/2.2 ultra-wide lens with a 115˚ FOV. The camera setup is enhanced by Leica lens technology, ensuring exceptional colors and image quality.

The Vivo X100 has a 50 MP, f/1.6, main lens with OIS and a sensor size of 1/1.49 inches. There’s also a 3X 64 MP f/2.6 periscope telephoto with OIS and a sensor size of 1/2.0 inches. The camera setup is concluded with a 50 MP f/2.0 ultra-wide lens that has a 119˚ FOV and 1/2.76” sensor size. To add the cherry on top, the Vivo X100 also boasts Zeiss optics and Zeiss T* lens coating.

The OnePlus 12 features a sophisticated camera system, including a 50 MP f/1.6 main lens with a 1/1.43-inch sensor size and OIS. Additionally, it includes a 3X 64 MP periscope telephoto lens with an f/2.6 aperture, 1/2.0-inch sensor size, and OIS. The device also offers a 48 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens with a 1/2.0-inch sensor size and a 114° FOV. These lenses are complemented by Hasselblad’s color calibration.

As for selfies, all the devices have a 32 MP camera on the front with slightly different focal lengths. It’s important to note that the Vivo X100 has a wider FOV (20 mm) on its front camera compared to the two.

The Xiaomi 14 and the Vivo X100 seem to have the best camera setup and camera performance as well. The OnePlus 12, although it has a great camera setup, does not care well against the competition.

As for what’s under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 and the OnePlus 12 boast Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Vivo X100, on the other hand, is powered by MediaTek’s flagship chip, the Dimensity 9300.

The Xiaomi 14 boots into HyperOS 1.0, which is based on Android 14, out of the box. The Vivo X100 runs on FuntouchOS 14, based on Android 14, while the OnePlus 12 runs on OxygenOS 14, also based on Android 14.
