TL; DR
  • X500 Ultra is tipped for 50MP, 50MP, and 200MP rear cameras.
  • A 68MP Sony IMX05A selfie sensor is reportedly in testing for an S-series phone.
  • Both phones are expected in the first half of 2027; nothing is confirmed.

With each passing day, we’re inching closer to the Vivo X500’s official arrival in India. However, as we get closer, the rumor mill is spilling more details about what the series is known for: camera sensors.

The latest rumors are about the X500 Ultra, the top-end flagship in the lineup. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t follow previous models and might disappoint some enthusiasts.

What Cameras Is The Vivo X500 Ultra Tipped To Pack?

Renowned tipster Digital Chat Station (via Weibo) claims a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6-powered “Ultra” flagship from Vivo could feature a triple rear camera setup. The setup could include two 50MP sensors paired with one 200MP sensor, which is widely expected to be the telephoto. On the front, the handset might sport a 50MP selfie shooter.

Although the tipster didn’t name the phone, the details align with the upcoming Vivo X500 Ultra, the direct successor to the Vivo X300 Ultra (review).

Which Vivo Phone Is Getting The 68-Megapixel Selfie Camera?

The same tipster also claims that Vivo is testing a 68-megapixel Sony IMX05A sensor for the front camera, but for an upcoming S-series phone (not the Pro flagships). That phone could probably be the Vivo X500s, which might debut alongside the Ultra.

Digging into the sensor, reports suggest it could be square-shaped, similar to what we’ve already seen on the iPhone 17’s Center Stage front camera (and, of course, the iPhone 18 Pro models). Whether the experience remains similar is still TBD.

Both phones are expected in the first half of 2027. If that holds, Vivo repeats the Ultra-plus-S pairing it used with the X300 Ultra and X300s. For now, we’re looking at the launch of the baseline X500, and the X500 Pro and Pro Max to debut on November 25, 2026.
