Apple’s iPhone 18e May Get A Faster Chip And A Sharper Selfie Camera

Apple’s cheapest iPhone, the upcoming model in the ‘e’ series, could get a modest glow-up. According to a renowned Chinese leakster, Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18e could get a faster chip and a sharper selfie camera. However, one of the most disappointing things about it, the 60Hz screen, could stay put.

What Does The iPhone 18e Leak Say?

According to the leaker’s Weibo post, the iPhone 18e could ship with a 6.12-inch LTPS OLED display at 60Hz, which could be a tad bigger than the iPhone 17e’s 6.1-inch panel. Under the hood, the cheapest iPhone could sport an A20 chip (2nm), which would replace the 3nm A19.

The rear camera resolution might stay at 48MP, while the front camera might jump from 12MP to 24MP. Could it also get the Center Stage functionality? The leak doesn’t mention anything about it, but there’s a good possibility of that happening. An earlier leak adds 9GB of RAM, up from 8GB. However, some Apple Intelligence features require 12GB.

When Could It Launch, And What Could It Cost?

Spring 2027 is the working guess. The iPhone 18e could debut in or around March 2026, alongside the baseline iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2. Apple’s track record corroborates this guess: the iPhone 16e arrived in February 2025 and the iPhone 17e in March 2026.

There hasn’t been a concrete leak about the handset’s price. For context, Apple’s iPhone 17e costs ₹79,900 in India for the baseline variant with 256GB of storage. This is after the recent price hike. With the new chip and front camera, the iPhone 18e could command a slight premium over the current price, perhaps around ₹5,000 to ₹10,000.
