Vivo X500 Series Launched in China: Prices, Specs, and What India Buyers Should Expect

Usually, I don’t sit up during China-only smartphone launches, but Vivo compelled me to do so yesterday. The company unveiled the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, its latest camera-centric flagships that take the baton from the outgoing X300 Pro and X300 Pro Max. 

Apart from featuring improved optical sensors, the series is also the first to sport MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro (2nm) chipset. There’s a lot of ground to cover, so without any further ado, here’s everything you need to know about the vivo X500 series.

Vivo X500 Pro Series: Pricing & Availability

In its native market, Vivo has announced eight separate memory and storage configurations across the two phones. The list of models and pricing is given below, along with a conversion in both Indian Rupee and US Dollar. 

While the flagships are up for pre-order in China from September 21, 2026, general sales commence on September 24, 2026. Only the Pro Max will be available at first. The Pro follows on September 29, 2026.

Now, Vivo hasn’t confirmed a single detail for India. So, we don’t have any official dates, local pricing, or variant lineup. However, based on the brand’s regional launch record, we could expect to see the X500 Pro Max in India by October or November. If that happens, I’d expect the Indian pricing to sit above the raw currency conversion.

Vivo X500 Pro Series: Key Specifications & Features

The headline act here is the Dimensity 9600 Pro, which is MediaTek’s first chip to be based on TSMC’s 2nm fabrication technology. The upgrade from 3nm to 2nm results in noticeably better efficiency and sustained performance during long gaming sessions. 

The chipset is paired with Vivo’s own imaging engine, which is built specifically to handle multi-frame computational photography.

Other than that, both phones use a new Q11 luminescent panel, which is co-developed with BOE. It features an LTPO 8T backplane that supports a truly variable refresh rate between 1 and 144Hz. The minimum brightness now drops to a genuine 1 nit, while the peak brightness is rated at 4,500 nits. 

The Vivo X500 Pro Max features a 200MP Zeiss periscope telephoto. Built on a 1/1.4-inch Samsung sensor, it supports an equivalent 400 mm zoom with a dedicated G2 Ultra teleconverter. The in-sensor 4x zoom and a new telephoto tracking system (rolling out via OTA) aren’t for everyone. Such features are aimed at people who shoot sports or wildlife.

Battery-wise, the Pro Max’s 8,000 mAh cell is bigger than the OnePlus 16’s 7,300 mAh battery. It also supports 90W wired and 40W wireless charging. The smaller Vivo X500 Pro features a 6,510 mAh battery, which, considering the phone’s form factor, is quite good.
