Last year, Rockstar Games confirmed that GTA VI, one of the most awaited open-world action-adventure games of all time, will be released sometime in 2025. It also released the first official trailer for the game, which revealed quite a lot of details about the title, including the main protagonist, Lucia. However, a new development might delay GTA VI’s release. Here’s everything we know.

Take-Two Interactive Software Facing Immense Competition

According to a report by Reuters, Take-Two Interactive Software, the company behind Rockstar Games and 2K, has forecasted “fourth-quarter bookings below market expectations.” The company has cut its annual estimates based on the weak demand for its latest gaming titles, such as NBA 2K. Further, intense competition from publishers like Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard is hurting the company’s revenue.

Take-Two has forecasted fourth-quarter revenue from USD 1.27 billion to 1.32 billion, less than the analysts’ expectation of USD 1.51 billion. The company has also cut its projections for the full-year revenue “to a range of USD 5.25 billion to 5.30 billion,” which is less than its forecast of USD 5.45 billion to 5.55 billion. While this is a pretext for the main development, getting the hang of it is important, as it will tell readers why GTA VI could be delayed.

Revised Yearly Revenue Estimates Suggest Delay In GTA VI Launch

The company’s latest projection of the fiscal year 2025’s revenue suggests that it will book a little above $7 billion, down from last year’s “downwardly revised forecast of under USD 8 billion.” Hence, the yearly revenue forecast reduction suggests that GTA VI might not come out next fiscal year after all. Given the massive hype around the title and the rumors about the increased cost, the game will help the company boost its revenue as and when it comes out.
