TL; DR
  • realme says it is going through “ongoing organizational optimization” in India, calling it a normal industry practice and “unrelated to any other brands.”
  • The company says products, retail presence, service commitments, and overall operations in India remain “fully unaffected.”
  • The statement follows reports that OPPO is integrating realme’s backend operations in India, with job roles reportedly impacted across sales and support teams.

realme India has issued an official statement responding to reports of layoffs and internal restructuring in the country. The company describes the situation as part of “ongoing organizational optimization,” and frames it as routine rather than a major disruption.

In its official statement, realme said: “This adjustment is part of realme India’s ongoing organizational optimization and is in line with normal industry benchmarks. This adjustment is unrelated to any other brands. Our products, retail presence, and service commitments remain fully unaffected. realme remains deeply committed to the Indian market and will continue to uphold our mission of making technology more accessible, serving millions of users, and creating sustained long-term value.”

The response comes after multiple reports claimed OPPO has started folding realme’s India operations into its own structure. These reports say the integration includes backend teams such as sales support and service operations, as OPPO looks to reduce duplication and cut costs. Some employees have reportedly been asked to resign by April 30, 2026, as part of the transition.

Reports also suggest the restructuring to realme’s brand repositioning. realme launched in 2018 under OPPO’s broader ecosystem, and reports say OPPO formally shifted realme into a sub-brand role in India on January 7, 2026, while keeping its consumer-facing identity separate.

realme did not share any numbers for affected roles and denied any connections with “other brands,” indirectly referring to OPPO.
