A series of HyperOS 4 leaks has offered the best look yet at Xiaomi’s next major software update. While the company has yet to announce the new version, multiple screenshots from internal testing builds suggest HyperOS 4 will receive its biggest visual redesign since the HyperOS branding was introduced.
The most noticeable addition is a new glass-inspired interface that brings translucent UI elements, redesigned icons, and several subtle refinements across the system.
Liquid Glass Comes to HyperOS
The standout change is a new frosted glass design language that appears throughout the interface. Leaked screenshots show Xiaomi testing two different visual styles.
The Clear mode uses a stronger translucent effect, making folders and interface panels appear more glass-like. The Soft mode offers a toned-down version with lighter blur while retaining the same overall aesthetic.
One interesting detail is the use of refraction effects inside folders, where background elements appear to bend through the glass. It adds more depth than a standard blur and gives the interface a distinct look.

Icons and System UI Are Getting Refreshed
The redesign extends beyond the glass effects. HyperOS 4 also appears to introduce a new set of 2.5D app icons with added depth and subtle shadows, replacing the flatter style used in previous releases.
Other interface tweaks shown in the leaks include:
- Thicker status bar icons with a cleaner appearance
- A shorter gesture navigation bar at the bottom of the display
- A redesigned Weather app icon with a more three-dimensional look

The overall direction has naturally drawn comparisons to Apple’s recent software design. HyperOS 4’s Clear and Soft appearance resembles the Clear and Tinted Liquid Glass options introduced with iOS 26, and now a slider with iOS 27.

The leaked interface has reportedly been spotted on Xiaomi 18-series prototype devices running an early Android 17-based HyperOS 4 build. As these are internal testing builds, the final design could still change before Xiaomi announces the update.
