TL; DR (tap to expand)
  • The OnePlus 16 is reportedly set to feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE display with a 185Hz refresh rate after the company dropped plans for a 240Hz panel.
  • The phone could debut with symmetrical bezels measuring under 1mm on all four sides, making them the narrowest ever on a OnePlus device.
  • Other rumored specifications include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset and a 9,000 mAh battery.

OnePlus appears to have settled on the display configuration for its next flagship. According to fresh information from Digital Chat Station, the company has abandoned an earlier 240Hz prototype in favor of a 185Hz panel.

The OnePlus 16 is expected to feature a 6.78-inch display with a 1.5K resolution, continuing with a screen size similar to recent OnePlus flagships. The panel is reportedly being supplied by BOE and is said to deliver improvements in brightness, color reproduction, and power efficiency compared to the OnePlus 15.

One of the more notable details from the leak is the refresh rate. Earlier reports had suggested OnePlus was exploring a 240Hz panel for the device. According to the latest information, those plans were ultimately dropped due to concerns surrounding image quality and the practicality of mass production. Instead, the company is said to have settled on a 185Hz refresh rate.

The display could also introduce OnePlus’ slimmest bezels to date. Digital Chat Station claims the OnePlus 16 will use symmetrical bezels measuring less than 1mm on all four sides.

Beyond the screen, previous leaks have painted the picture of a flagship focused heavily on battery life. The OnePlus 16 is rumored to feature a 9,000 mAh battery, a substantial increase over the 7,300 mAh battery on the OnePlus 15. Reports have also suggested support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The phone is also expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. Camera leaks have been less consistent. Earlier reports pointed to a 50MP main camera paired with a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, while more recent leaks suggested OnePlus may instead opt for a 200MP primary sensor alongside a 50MP periscope camera and a 50MP ultrawide unit. The differing reports suggest the company could still be testing multiple camera configurations.

OnePlus 16 Launch Date

The OnePlus 16 is currently expected to launch in September 2026, which would align with Qualcomm’s usual flagship chipset release cycle. With several months still remaining before its debut, additional details surrounding the final camera hardware and charging specifications are likely to emerge closer to launch.
