The OnePlus 16 has appeared in another leak, but the latest information raises more questions than answers about the phone’s camera hardware.
According to reliable Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, the device is currently being tested with a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultrawide sensor. That differs from previous reports, which suggested OnePlus was planning to use a 50MP main sensor paired with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera.
Since both leaks come from credible sources, there’s a good chance OnePlus is evaluating multiple camera configurations before locking in the final hardware.
200MP Main Camera Could Be the New Direction
If the latest information is accurate, OnePlus may be prioritizing a high-resolution primary camera instead of putting the 200MP sensor behind the zoom lens.
That would leave the phone with a more traditional flagship camera layout consisting of a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. Details about the telephoto zoom range have not surfaced yet.
At this stage, it remains unclear which configuration will make it to the final retail device.
Other Rumored Specifications
The phone is expected to use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset and feature a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel supplied by BOE. The display is rumored to support a 185Hz refresh rate, though some reports suggest OnePlus could be testing a mode that pushes refresh rates even higher.
The screen is also said to feature extremely slim 1mm symmetrical bezels. It could also sport a 9,000 mAh battery with support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The OnePlus 16 is expected to arrive later this year, which leaves plenty of time for specifications to change during development.
