TL; DR
  • iQOO 16 may launch in India in September 2026, earlier than the expected November-December window.
  • Leaked specs include the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, 8,500mAh battery, and triple 50MP cameras.
  • Expected India price is around Rs 74,990, though no official confirmation has been made yet.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer iQOO has been one of the most aggressive players in the Indian Android flagship market, especially over the past two years, when it has undercut the price of other flagships by a considerable margin.

Most recently, tipster Digital Chat Station shared details about the iQOO 16, the brand’s upcoming flagship, which is set to take after the iQOO 15 (review). The most interesting bit, however, isn’t about the smartphone’s hardware. It’s about a possible launch date that is significantly earlier than the brand’s regular upgrade cycle.

Tipster Claims iQOO 16 Could Launch By September 2026

The tipster suggests that both the iQOO 16 and OnePlus 16, coming from the same parent company, BBK Electronics, may launch as early as September 2026. Last year, the smartphones debuted around their usual November-December window.

Depending on when the iQOO 16 and the OnePlus 16 launch in September, they could compete directly with the iPhone 18 series, expected to launch in the same month. Given that Apple is only expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro models this year, the Android flagships could fill the gap created by the lack of the baseline iPhone 18 (around ₹70,000 to ₹80,000).

iQOO 16: Leaked Specifications

The iQOO 16 is expected to sport a 6.85-inch 2K LTPO OLED display with a refresh rate of 165Hz or 185Hz (sources differ on the claims about the refresh rate). Under the hood, the purported smartphone could run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (unreleased), alongside LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.

Apart from the capable chipset, the phone could also feature an 8,500 mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging, which, in a very real way, makes the phone last for around two days of typical usage. If the rumor holds, the iQOO 16 could feature one of the largest batteries in Android flagships.

Regarding optics, we could get a triple 50MP camera setup, including a wide, ultrawide, and a periscope telephoto lens. Other rumoured features include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, an IP69 rating, and a Type-C USB 3.2 port for fast wired data transfer.

Price & Availability In India

As mentioned earlier, the iQOO 16 and the OnePlus 16 could debut in September 2026 at a price tag of around ₹70,000 to ₹80,000, depending on the memory and storage configurations.
