The OPPO Enco X series is finally back in India after a long time. OPPO has consistently delivered some solid options with its Enco Air and Enco Buds series, and now the flagship Enco X lineup is making a return with the Enco X4.

I’ve been using the OPPO Enco X4 for a little over two weeks, putting it through my daily routine, from listening to music and taking calls to working out and commuting. It comes with a dual-driver setup developed with Dynaudio, a dedicated 6 nm NPU for ANC, and several smart features that go beyond the usual music playback and call controls.

There’s quite a bit to explore here, including LHDC Lossless audio, Spatial Audio with head tracking, and AI-powered features. At ₹19,999, the Enco X4 enters the premium TWS segment, and I’ve spent the past couple of weeks figuring out how well it fits into everyday life. Let’s get into it.

The OPPO Enco X4 is priced at ₹19,999 in India and goes on sale starting October 29. You can purchase it through OPPO’s official website and Amazon.

OPPO Enco X4 Review: Sound

The OPPO Enco X4 uses an 11 mm TRF woofer and a 6 mm planar tweeter, with each driver getting its own dedicated DAC. The woofer handles the lower frequencies, while the planar tweeter takes care of the highs. OPPO has also continued its collaboration with Dynaudio, giving you five sound profiles to choose from.

Out of the box, I found the default tuning fairly average. The vocals sit a little strangely in the mix, and the overall presentation could use some adjustment. Thankfully, you can switch between the five Dynaudio profiles to find a sound signature that suits your preferences.

I spent most of my time using Original Sound and Pure Vocals. Original Sound has a balanced presentation that works well across different genres, while Pure Vocals brings voices forward and gives them a more natural presence. If you listen to a lot of pop music or vocal-heavy tracks, I’d recommend giving Pure Vocals a try.

Thundering Bass is my pick for electronic music and rock. It adds more weight and texture to the low end, making tracks sound punchier without muddying the rest of the mix. Crisp Highs, meanwhile, brings out additional detail in instruments and works well with piano recordings and music that has plenty of layers.

The fifth profile, Dynaudio High-Resolution, aims to recreate the character of classic Dynaudio speakers, with an emphasis on clarity and detail.

Once I started experimenting with these profiles, I enjoyed the sound much more. Instrument separation is clear, the bass has a satisfying texture, and the highs remain controlled even at higher volumes. There’s enough detail to make listening enjoyable across different genres, and the dual-driver arrangement gives you plenty of flexibility to tailor the sound.

You also get Sound Master EQ, a 10-band equalizer that lets you adjust the low, mid and high frequencies. You can share your own presets or import settings created by other users. I appreciate having this level of control because it lets me fine-tune the sound according to my preferences.

LHDC Lossless Audio and Spatial Audio

One of the bigger additions is support for LHDC Lossless audio at up to 2.3 Mbps, with transmission reaching 24-bit/48 kHz. The Enco X4 is also Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified.

To use LHDC Lossless, you’ll need a compatible OPPO Find X Series phone, with the best performance expected on the Find X10 Series (as per OPPO). The feature is disabled by default, so you’ll have to enable it manually through the Bluetooth settings.

On other devices, the available codecs include AAC, SBC, LHDC and LC3, depending on device compatibility.

Spatial Audio is another feature I enjoyed trying. You get three options: Off, Fixed and Head Tracking. With head tracking enabled, the audio stays spatially anchored as you move your head, creating a more immersive experience when watching movies or listening to supported content.

I like that Spatial Audio works across different devices and operating systems. You can experiment with it regardless of which smartphone you use, although the actual experience will depend on the content and device.

Overall, once you settle on a Dynaudio profile or adjust the EQ to your liking, the Enco X4 sounds really good.

OPPO Enco X4 Review: Design and Fit

The Enco X4 has a premium design that looks right at home in this price segment. The earbuds combine matte and glossy finishes, with a polished star-ring detail and a laser-engraved Dynaudio logo adding some character. The charging case has a smooth finish with metallic-looking edges, and the overall design remains clean and understated.

Both Glacier White and Aurora Violet look good. I particularly like how the different finishes come together without making the earbuds look overly busy.

Comfort is another area where the Enco X4 does well. Each earbud weighs just 5.6 grams, and the complete package, including the charging case, weighs around 51 grams. I could wear them for extended listening sessions without experiencing much discomfort.

OPPO has redesigned the ear tips using data from more than 2,800 ear-canal scans. They use a foamed silicone material that compresses to accommodate different ear shapes, helping create a secure seal with less pressure. Four sizes are included in the box.

I used the default tips for most of my testing, and they worked well for me. The earbuds stayed comfortably in place during everyday use and gym sessions. The seal also helped with passive noise isolation, which works alongside ANC to reduce background noise.

The IP55 rating adds some peace of mind when working out or getting caught in light rain. This rating applies to the earbuds, while the charging case itself isn’t water-resistant. Make sure the earbuds are dry before charging them.

OPPO Enco X4 Review: App and Features

The Enco X4 has plenty of additional features to explore. On OPPO and OnePlus phones, you can access most earbud settings directly through the Bluetooth menu. Other Android and iOS users can install the HeyMelody app to manage the earbuds.

Along with sound profiles, EQ settings and Spatial Audio, you get several features designed to make everyday use more convenient.

Spotify Tap lets you launch Spotify recommendations and skip tracks using a customizable double-tap or triple-tap gesture. Head Gestures let you nod to answer calls or shake your head to reject them, which can be handy when your hands are occupied.

Tap to Take lets you control the camera remotely using the earbuds on supported OPPO phones. You can take a photo or control video recording with a double-tap gesture, which is convenient.

AI Live Translation is another interesting addition. It supports face-to-face conversations by playing translated speech through the earbuds while displaying the original and translated text on your phone. There’s also a Live mode designed for situations such as meetings, lectures and presentations.

You can also access Google Gemini using a voice command or touch control, making it convenient to ask questions or look up information without reaching for your phone.

OPPO has included a few wellbeing features, too. Neck Health tracks posture and provides reminders, with guided exercises and mobility assessments available on supported devices. Sleep Tracking can pause music when it detects that you’ve fallen asleep, while Sound Space includes ambient audio for focus, relaxation and sleep.

Media Controls and Wear Detection

The controls are straightforward, and you can customize the gestures through the app. A single press pauses or resumes playback, a double press skips to the next track, and a triple press goes back.

You can also adjust volume on either earbud by swiping your finger up and down. And of course, you can reassign these gestures to suit your preferences from the settings.

Wear detection works well, too. Taking an earbud out pauses playback immediately, and the audio output is automatically switched to your phone’s speakers. Put it back in, and playback seamlessly returns to the earbuds.

OPPO Enco X4 Review: Microphones and Calling

The Enco X4 uses three microphones, a voice pickup unit (VPU) and AI-based noise reduction to improve call quality. The system is powered by the same 6 nm NPU used for ANC.

During my testing, voices remained clear even in busy environments. Whether I was outdoors, at the gym or around traffic, the person on the other end could generally hear me without requiring me to raise my voice.

Wind noise was also handled well, which is useful when taking calls while walking outside. Call quality remained consistent throughout my two weeks of use, making these earbuds reliable for everyday calls.

The microphone system has another interesting trick. When paired with compatible OPPO Find X Series phones, the Enco X4 can work as an external microphone for video recording through its Clear Audio Recording feature.

It captures audio through both earbuds, using Dolby technology and AI noise reduction to preserve stereo direction and reduce ambient noise. OPPO recommends a Find X10 or newer for the best results.

OPPO Enco X4 Review: Connectivity

The Enco X4 supports Bluetooth 6.1 and dual-device connectivity. I could keep the earbuds connected to two devices at once and switch between them without repeatedly disconnecting and pairing again.

For example, you can watch a video on your tablet and answer an incoming call on your phone. The audio switches to the call, making it convenient if you regularly move between multiple devices.

Connectivity has been reliable during my testing, including in crowded places where wireless interference can sometimes become an issue.

OPPO Enco X4 Review: Noise Cancellation

ANC is one of my favorite things about the Enco X4. The combination of redesigned ear tips, three microphones and a dedicated 6 nm NPU does a great job of cutting down background noise.

During my gym sessions, the earbuds reduced the sound from the speakers significantly, allowing me to concentrate on my music. They also work well on public transport, where the constant rumble of the metro and surrounding street noise become much less distracting.

Speech frequencies are handled particularly well, which helps when you’re listening to music in busy environments. The overall experience makes the Enco X4 a good companion for commuting, traveling or working in places with plenty of background noise.

You also get Adaptive ANC, which uses AI-based scene recognition to adjust noise cancellation and transparency according to your surroundings. It recognizes environments such as subways, trains, airplanes, taxis and streets, with three adjustment levels available.

I like having the option to let the earbuds adapt to changing surroundings, especially when moving between quieter indoor spaces and busy streets. The transitions are smooth, and you can choose the level of adjustment that works best for you.

Transparency mode is useful when you need to hear people around you or have a quick conversation. Conversation Awareness takes this a step further by automatically lowering the music volume and switching to the highest transparency level when it detects that you’re speaking. Once the conversation ends, your previous volume and ANC settings return.

I found this useful for brief conversations without having to remove the earbuds. If you tend to sing along to your music, you may want to disable it to avoid triggering the feature while listening.

OPPO Enco X4 Review: Battery and Charging

Battery life has been reliable throughout my testing. Each earbud houses a 65 mAh battery, while the charging case has a 576 mAh cell.

OPPO claims up to 13 hours of playback from the earbuds on a single charge, with ANC turned off and volume set to 50%. With the charging case, total playback reaches up to 53 hours under the same conditions.

With ANC enabled, the claimed figures drop to six hours from the earbuds and 26 hours with the case. Those numbers give you a good idea of how much ANC affects battery life.

In my experience, I regularly got close to the claimed single-charge runtime with ANC turned off. With ANC enabled, playback time was closer to six hours, which was enough for several listening sessions throughout the day.

Charging is convenient, too. OPPO claims that a 10-minute charge can provide up to 14 hours of playback with the charging case under its specified test conditions. This figure includes the case, so your actual results will depend on how much charge the earbuds and case have available.

A full wired charge takes around 55 minutes for the earbuds and 65 minutes for the complete package. Wireless charging is also supported, although it takes around 150 minutes for the charging case and earbuds.

Review Verdict: Should You Buy the OPPO Enco X4?

The OPPO Enco X4 is a strong addition to the company’s premium TWS lineup. After using it for a little over two weeks, I came away particularly impressed with the ANC, comfortable fit, battery life and the flexibility offered by the Dynaudio sound profiles.

ANC is a major strength, especially for gym sessions and commutes. The earbuds also handle calls well, and include plenty of useful extras such as dual connection, Spatial Audio, Conversation Awareness and Gemini access.

At ₹19,999, the OPPO Enco X4 is worth considering if you’re looking for premium earbuds with strong noise cancellation, detailed sound and a comfortable design. The combination of dual drivers, Dynaudio tuning and a broad feature set makes it a compelling return for the Enco X series.
