The OPPO Enco series has consistently delivered some of the better audio products in the affordable segment. While the recently launched Enco Air5 Pro grabs most of the attention, the standard Enco Air5 is arguably the more interesting product for a lot of buyers.
Priced at ₹3,299, the Enco Air5 sit in one of the most competitive categories in audio right now. This is a segment where buyers expect almost everything: strong ANC, long battery life, good call quality, seamless connectivity, and an app experience that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.
After using the Enco Air5 for music, calls, workouts, and commuting over the past week, I came away impressed. These earbuds don’t rely on a single headline feature to stand out. Instead, they deliver a very well-rounded experience with very few obvious shortcomings. Let’s get into it.

OPPO Enco Air5 Review: Sound

The Enco Air5 use a 12mm dynamic driver with a titanium-coated PET diaphragm. On paper, that may not sound particularly unusual, but OPPO has done a very good job with the tuning.
Unlike many earbuds in this price range that go overboard with bass, the Enco Air5 feel much more controlled. There is still plenty of low-end presence, and tracks with deep bass sound satisfying, but it doesn’t sound overwhelming.

The default Ultimate Sound preset ended up being my favorite during testing. It offers the best balance between clarity and bass. Pure Vocals pushes singers further forward in the mix, while Thundering Bass is exactly what you’d expect and works well for genres like EDM and hip-hop.
You also get a full 10-band Pro Equalizer, which allows for much deeper customization than most competitors. The ability to save and share EQ profiles is a nice addition as well.

OPPO Alive Audio is available too. It widens the soundstage and creates a more spacious presentation while watching movies or listening to live performances. It works reasonably well, though I mostly preferred leaving it off for music.
Overall, these are among the best-sounding earbuds you can buy around ₹3,000.
OPPO Enco Air5 Review: Design and Fit

The Enco Air5 follow a fairly minimal design language. The charging case is compact, lightweight, and easy to carry around in a pocket. The matte finish also does a good job hiding fingerprints.
The Lavender Purple variant deserves a special mention. OPPO says it was designed alongside the Reno16 series, and the overall aesthetic certainly feels more premium than the price suggests.

Each earbud weighs just 4.3 grams, and that low weight really helps with the comfort. I regularly wore these for two to three hours at a stretch while working and rarely experienced any discomfort.
The fit is secure enough for walking, commuting, and even workouts. I didn’t find myself constantly readjusting the earbuds, which is always a good sign.

The earbuds are also IP55-rated for dust and water resistance, so sweat and occasional splashes should not be an issue. Note that only the earbuds are ingress protected, not the case.
OPPO Enco Air5 Review: App and Features

The software experience is one of the strongest aspects of the Enco Air5. If you’re using an OPPO or OnePlus smartphone, most controls are integrated directly within Bluetooth settings, making the entire experience seamless. Users on other Android devices and iPhones can access the same features through the HeyMelody app.

The app itself is clean and easy to navigate. There are no unnecessary menus or confusing layouts. You don’t need to sign up to use the app either.

You get extensive control over ANC modes, touch gestures, sound presets, Alive Audio, and the 10-band equalizer. There are also a number of practical features like camera shutter controls, Spotify Tap, AI voice assistant support, and AI Translate.

Dual-device connectivity works very well in practice. I could switch between a smartphone and laptop, and the earbuds transition smoothly without requiring manual reconnection. The feature supports Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows devices.

Gamers also get a dedicated low-latency mode that reduces latency to as low as 47ms. In games like BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile, footsteps and directional cues can be enhanced, which does help during gameplay.
OPPO Enco Air5 Review: Microphones and Calling

The Enco Air5 use a triple-microphone setup on each earbud, and call quality is quite good overall.
During calls indoors, voices sound clear and natural. Outdoors, the earbuds do a respectable job reducing surrounding traffic noise and general environmental sounds.

I tested these on busy roads as well as in windy conditions, and people on the other side rarely complained about my voice quality. Some background noise still comes through in extremely noisy environments, but that is expected at this price.
OPPO claims wind noise suppression at speeds of up to 25 km/h, and in my experience, the earbuds perform reasonably well when you’re outdoors. For everyday calls and online meetings, the Enco Air5 are more than capable.
OPPO Enco Air5 Review: Connectivity

The Enco Air5 supports Bluetooth 6.1 and maintains a stable connection during regular use. You also get a dedicated pairing button, which makes the pairing process easier.
Pairing is quick, and the earbuds reconnect almost instantly when you remove them from the case. They also support Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair for seamless pairing with compatible devices.
OPPO Enco Air5 Review: Noise Cancellation

ANC performance is one of the biggest highlights of the Enco Air5. The earbuds support adaptive ANC with up to 52dB noise reduction and an ultra-wide cancellation frequency range of up to 5000 Hz.
In real-world usage, the performance is impressive. Constant noises such as fans, air conditioners, office chatter, and traffic are reduced significantly. The earbuds are particularly effective at reducing mid and higher-frequency sounds, which are often more distracting during daily use.

You can manually select between High, Moderate, and Low ANC modes, or simply leave Smart Mode enabled and allow the earbuds to adjust automatically depending on your surroundings. I mostly used Smart Mode, and it worked reliably throughout my testing.
Transparency mode also performs well for the price. Voices sound decent enough during quick conversations, so you don’t always need to remove the earbuds. Considering the price, ANC performance is excellent.
OPPO Enco Air5 Review: Battery and Charging

Battery life is another area where the Enco Air5 impress. OPPO claims up to 13 hours of playback on the earbuds and up to 54 hours of total playback when used with the charging case.
In my usage, which included ANC, calls, and music streaming, battery life was close to OPPO’s claimed numbers. Most users should comfortably get several days of usage before needing to recharge the case.
The earbuds are also TÜV Rheinland certified for battery health, with OPPO claiming they retain over 80% of their battery health even after 1,000 charging cycles.
Fast charging support is available as well, which is always useful when you’re in a hurry. The earbuds with the case take about an hour and 30 minutes for a full charge, but you can get 11 hours of listening time with a quick 10 minute charge.
Review Verdict: Should You Buy the OPPO Enco Air5?
The OPPO Enco Air5 get the basics right, and then add a lot more on top. The sound is enjoyable, ANC performance is among the best in the segment, battery life is excellent, and the software experience is polished and easy to use. There aren’t many obvious compromises here.
What I particularly liked is that these earbuds don’t try to impress with just one standout feature. They deliver a consistently good experience across sound quality, comfort, connectivity, and everyday usability.
If your budget is around ₹3,000 to ₹3,500, the OPPO Enco Air5 deserve serious consideration. They are easily among the best all-round earbuds currently available in this segment.
