UPDATE (April 23, 2025): On Tuesday, Meta released the Edits app on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The app will enable budding Instagram creators to organize video ideas, access crucial Instagram insights, compile footage into a video with advanced yet easy-to-use tools such as automatic captioning and green screen, and post them on their Instagram account.

Meta has announced a new video editing app for creators: Edits by Instagram. The app is a direct rival to ByteDance’s CapCut, which was taken down from the App Store recently after a ban by the United States government. Either way, the app offers several video editing features that could help creators and regular users alike.

Edits By Instagram Also Helps With Useful Insights And Content Management

Once users are done editing their videos, they can export them with no watermark (on any platform). If someone is working on multiple videos simultaneously, they can keep track of their drafts and videos in one place.

Apart from its fantastic video editing abilities, Edits by Instagram allows users to track their reels’ performance with a live insights dashboard. Users can also see a breakdown of engagement for followers and non-followers. The app will also show additional metrics like skip rate, allowing creators to plan their videos.
