LG G8s ThinQ powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset launched at Rs. 36,990 in India

Months after its debut, LG has brought its G8s ThinQ smartphone to India. It comes with Snapdragon 855 processor, triple cameras and the sorcery Hand ID. The latter is a palm-reading tech that uses biometrics of your hand to control the device functions wirelessly.

LG’s press release describes the feature as –

“LG’s Hand ID identifies owners by recognizing the shape, thickness and other individual characteristics of the veins in the palms of their hands. Simply placing a pre-registered hand in front of the front-facing camera for a split second is all it takes to unlock the LG G8 ThinQ and all its content.”

It can be further used to answer or decline incoming calls, take a selfie, snooze or stop an alarm, stop a timer, control media, or even open your favorite app. This is christened Air Motion.

LG G8s ThinQ launched in India

 

Moving to the general specs, you get a 6.2-inch full HD+ display. You can unlock the device using a rear-mounted fingerprint reader or using your face. You’ll be welcomed by Android Pie slapped on top of Snapdragon 855 chipset. This is aided by 6GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. It bears a 3,550mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

Another noticeable highlight is in the horizontal camera stack at the back. It is home to a 12-megapixel primary camera followed by a 13-megapixel 137-degree wide-angle sensor and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The selfie game is handled by an 8-megapixel sensor and a ToF Z Camera. This secondary unit is the hardware backing the aforementioned Hand ID, Air Motion and face unlocking.

LG G8s ThinQ price in India

The LG G8s ThinQ is currently available in India at Rs. 36,990 in Mirror Black, Mirror Teal, and Mirror White colour variants. You could grab one from Amazon India as well as LG’s authorized retail stores in the country.

The South Korean giant has unveiled another phone named the LG Q60, which is a budget phone with the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset. It is priced at Rs. 13,490 and will retail starting October 1 across India.
