Lava Z-series phones starting at ₹5,499 and BeFIT Fitness Band at ₹2,699 launched in India

Lava has unveiled four new Made in India smartphones from its Z-lineup namely Lava Z1, Z2, Z4, and Z6. These are powered by Mediatek chipsets and bag big batteries inside. The company has also introduced Lava My Z program, which is touted as the “world’s first customizable smartphone”. This is an initiative to allow the buyer to decide some of the specs and the custom phone will be made and delivered accordingly. Last, but not least, there is the BeFIT Fitness Band as well in the list of new products.

So, there’s a lot to unpack here. Let’s get to the details one by one.

Lava Z1 features

On the front side, you have a 5-inch display with thick bezels around the phone. There is Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. Inside, the phone is running on an octa-core MediaTek Helio A20 chipset. You get the option of 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

As for photography, you get a single 5MP rear camera with LED flash. The front camera is also a 5MP shooter.

Lava Z1 ships with Android 10. The phone has also got basic features like 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB as connectivity options. A 3100mAh battery keeps the phone alive.

Lava Z2 Features

On the front side, you are given a 6.51-inch display with a waterdrop notch. Protection of Gorilla Glass 3 is also provided on the display. As for the processor, the octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 chipset is used here. This is coupled with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

You also get a 13MP primary plus a 2MP depth sensor by the back. On the front, the 8MP selfie camera comes inside a notch.

Lava Z2 gets run on Android 10 Go Edition. The phone has basic features like 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB type C as connectivity options. The battery size is a 5000mAh battery.

Lava Z4 and Lava Z6 Features

Both the devices are offered with the same specifications and design. The only difference is in the memory configuration. Upfront, there is a 6.51-inch display with a waterdrop notch and Gorilla Glass 3 shield.

Under the hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 chipset paired with 4GB (Z4)/6GB (Z6) RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The rear oblong houses a 13MP main snapper followed by a 5MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP depth module. On the front, a 16MP selfie shooter handles the photos and videos.

The software is also the same — Android 10 on both Lava Z4 and Z6. Even the rest of the repertoire consisting of things like rear fingerprint scanner, 5000mAh battery, 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB type C stay the same.

Lava My Z: What is it?

Through this new program, Lava lets its users design their phones in “66 unique ways”. You can pick and choose specs such as RAM, storage, rear cameras, selfie camera, and color.

The things that can’t be customized and will be standard are the phone’s 6.5-inch HD+ IPS display, MediaTek Helio G35 processor, Android 10 software, 5,000mAh battery, and USB Type-C port.

You can access the ‘Made-to-Order’ customization model at the Lava e-store. Post the submission of your choice, the company will make and deliver the phone.

Lava BeFit Fitness Band

This is the brand’s foray into the fitness accessory realm. BeFit band sports a rectangular color screen with a single touch button beneath it. The wearable checks the fundamental fitness trackers such as heart rate, body temperature, SpO2, and sleep. There is also an abnormal health notifier, sedentary reminder, an option to share your health vitals with family and friends, and Telemedicine.

Other goodies include real-time phone notification sync and water resistance. You can grab the band in a single black color.

Price and Availability

You can buy the Lava phones (as priced below) from 11th January via Amazon India.

  • Lava Z1 2+32GB model is priced at ₹5,499.
  • Lava Z2 with 2+32GB memory is available at ₹6,999.
  • Lava Z4 with 4+64GB memory configuration carries a price tag of ₹8,999.
  • Lava Z6 costs ₹9,999 for the 6GB RAM plus 64GB storage variant.

As for the Lava BeFIT fitness band, the sticker price is ₹2,699 and will be on sale from the 26th of January.
