TL;DR
- The Korean giant automaker Kia is preparing to launch the EV avatar of the Syros.
- Under the hood, the EV will incorporate Hyundai’s K1 platform.
- The Syros EV could offer a 42 kWh (rated range of 300 km) or a 49 kWh battery pack (rated range of 355 km).
With the newly-launched Syros, Kia is taking a bet on a segment that doesn’t exist in India. This works both in the favor and against the company. Given that the Syros creates a segment of its own, it doesn’t have immediate rivals. However, that is both a boon and a curse for the company, as making people familiar with the segment could be a big challenge.

Syros EV To Arrive Between January And March 2026

Nonetheless, it looks like the company is quite confident about the vehicle, as it has already started working on launching the Syros EV. According to a report by Autocar, the Korean giant automaker Kia is preparing to launch the EV avatar of the Syros. The report mentions that the all-electric version of the sub-4 meter SUV will debut in the country in the first quarter of 2026.
While the publication didn’t mention a lot of details, it did mention that the Syros EV will come in a front-wheel-drive configuration. Under the hood, the EV will incorporate Hyundai’s K1 platform. Notably, this is the same platform as the Hyundai Inster EV that is available in the global markets.

Syros EV Will Look Like Its ICE Version (More Or Less)

Interestingly, the Syros EV will come with little to no changes in its external design. And that’s because the ICE Syros is based on the company’s electric vehicles. Even so, the Syros EV could feature some electric badges, aerodynamic wheels, some tweaks to the infotainment and instrument cluster, and more aggressive use of LEDs on the front grill. Perhaps a connecting DRL that isn’t a part of the ICE Syros exterior? Time will tell.
What About Syros EV’s Battery Pack And Range?
Given that the Syros EV will be based on the Hyundai Inster EV’s platform, it makes sense for the company to borrow the battery pack. Building on that, the Syros EV could offer a 42 kWh (rated range of 300 km) or a 49 kWh battery pack (rated range of 355 km). Further, the vehicle could offer features like Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, regenerative braking, a dedicated touchscreen for the climate control settings, etc.

Syros EV: Expected Price
The report also touches base with the pricing of the purported Syros EV, which could be in the range of Rs. 15 to 20 lakhs (ex-showroom). Interestingly, the Syros EV will come right after Kia launches the Carena EV in the country. Combined, both the EVs are expected to sell 50,000 to 60,000 units.
