Recently, Reliance Jio released its financial earnings report for Q2 2025, during which the company shared some noteworthy updates for Jio SIM users. Reliance Jio asserts that users of Jio SIM will experience up to a 40% increase in battery life on their smartphones. While this is currently an announcement without substantial evidence to support such a significant reduction in battery consumption, any improvement in battery efficiency would certainly benefit users. Let us explore how this enhanced battery life might be achieved.
40% more battery life with Jio SIM 5G
Kiran Thomas, President of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd., announced during the earnings call that the Jio network will integrate a distinctive array of spectrum assets and technological capabilities, including carrier aggregation and a standalone architecture.

Jio’s standalone (SA) 5G network is built from the ground up, distinguishing it from conventional 5G networks that depend on existing 4G infrastructure. This foundational approach is expected to enhance both efficiency and performance. Additionally, Jio asserts that its advanced spectrum management will contribute to lower power consumption in handsets by optimizing the allocation of energy-efficient spectrum for device communication.
Jio plans to implement intelligent spectrum management utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as beam management, traffic steering, and AI/ML-driven energy efficiency. This approach will enable mobile devices to consume less power, as spectrum bandwidth will be allocated only when necessary. As a result, users can expect a battery life improvement of 20-40%.
