Reliance Jio has announced that its Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on 29 August. The AGM will be a virtual event, just like last year wherein the telecom giant is expected to make significant announcements like Jio 5G network and JioPhone 5G device. Some announcements regarding the future of Reliance Digital, Chemical, and Oil units are also expected.
Reliance Jio 5G Network
Reliance might roll out its 5G services in the country during its AGM. The company has been working on its 5G services for quite some time now and Jio’s 5G network is first expected to roll out in 13 cities in the country. The list will include Delhi, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jamnagar, Kolkata, and Lucknow. Jio was also the highest bidder at the spectrum auction wherein it paid the highest price for the 700Hz band.
JioPhone 5G: Expectations
Jio is also expected to come up with its first 5G smartphone during its AGM. JioPhone 5G will be developed in partnership with Google. It is expected to sport a 6.5-inch display with HD+ quality and it might be an LCD panel with a refresh rate of 60Hz.
JioPhone 5G is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 480 5G chipset and has 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. It is likely to run its own Pragati OS and pack a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. The smartphone will come with in-built Jio apps and Google Play Services. The back will have dual 13MP+2MP cameras whereas the front will have a single selfie lens. The JioPhone 5G is expected to be priced under Rs. 10,000.
