The recent flagships come loaded with a bunch of safety-related features. For instance, there’s the Fall Detection feature on the recent iPhones or the satellite communication feature on the Pixel 9 (review) series. However, there’s one safety feature on the Pixel phones and iPhones that is yet to arrive on Samsung’s flagships, and that is Car Crash Detection.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra Will Ship With A Car Crash Detection Sensor

Galaxy S25 Ultra To Feature Car Crash Detection Sensor, But When Will Samsung Unlock The Feature Anyway

According to a new report by Android Authority, the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra will come with a car crash detection sensor. The publication has spotted leaked files from the smartphone, suggesting that it could come with the sensor also present on the Galaxy S24 series. However, what’s interesting is that Samsung hasn’t enabled the sensor or unlocked the feature yet.

The report highlights how the recent Galaxy phones are capable of detecting car crashes, but the company hasn’t enabled the feature on any device, neither for its local market nor the global market. While there are no mentions of Samsung releasing the feature on forums or social media platforms, there’s a chance that the feature is in the works.

Could Samsung Unlock The Feature With One UI 7.0?

Given that the One UI 7.0 update is around the corner, there’s a good chance that Samsung will release the feature for the latest Galaxy S25 series and the recent smartphones featuring the sensor. Car crash detection could also roll out as part of a minor One UI update, though, as the company hasn’t released it thus far.

It is important to mention here that other Android flagships, such as the Pixel series, already have a Car Crash Detection feature in place. On a supported Pixel smartphone, the feature uses the motion sensor and nearby sounds to detect when a crash has occurred, following which it contacts the emergency services.

Even the recent iPhones (iPhone 14 and newer) come with the Car Crash Detection feature, which works similarly. Even though Samsung hasn’t released the feature for its users, we’re optimistic about its role in the future.
