Sony Hikes PS Plus Prices In India: All Three Tiers Now Cost More, Effective July 19, 2026

TL; DR
  • Sony has raised PS Plus prices in India across all tiers, effective July 19, 2026, for existing subscribers.
  • Annual plan holders face the steepest hikes, with Deluxe subscribers paying up to ₹2,280 more per year.
  • India’s estimated 500,000-plus PS Plus subscribers will absorb increases ranging between 20 and 30 percent.

Sony has hiked PlayStation Plus subscription prices in India, sparing no tier or billing cycle. All the membership levels, including Essential, Extra, and Deluxe, are now more expensive across monthly, quarterly, and annual billing cycles.

Apart from the revision, it’s the timing that also matters. Earlier this year, Sony also increased the prices of the PS5 gaming console, not just in India, but globally. The PlayStation Plus subscription price hikes come when console gaming is becoming quite an expensive endeavour.

Sony has cited ongoing market conditions, broadly understood to be referring to the sustained rupee depreciation against the dollar. However, the company hasn’t issued any Indian-centric statements.

New PlayStation Plus Subscription Prices

New subscribers, those who’re joining the PlayStation Plus membership now, are already on the revised rates. For existing subscribers, however, Sony offers a grace period of around two months. The new pricing kicks in with the next billing cycle falling on or after July 19, 2026.

What This Means For Indian Gamers

The manner in which Sony has structured this increase is worth noting. In several other markets, pricing adjustments didn’t affect the annual plans, a deliberate decision to reward the customers willing to pay upfront.

India, however, received no such consideration, meaning the subscribers most likely to be long-term, loyal customers aren’t being rewarded equally. I’d call that a significant choice in a market where PS Plus has, until now, served as a meaningful equalizer.

The PS Plus membership targets buyers who find paying full label pricing for video game purchases too much, but still pay a monthly fee in exchange for a rotating library of titles. Revision in the pricing, however, weakens the value proposition.
