Flipkart Plus No-Fee Membership Program Announced; Will Rival Amazon Prime

Getting inspired by Amazon’s success with Prime membership, Flipkart will launch its own loyalty program in India under the name “Flipkart Plus” on August 15 this year. The company has decided to introduce this new scheme after thoroughly analyzing several years of data and deeply understanding its customer preferences. Flipkart Plus is an India-first scheme that guarantees faster and free delivery service to buyers along with early access to major Flipkart sales.

 

Flipkart Plus is a no-fee membership

Flipkart has defined its Flipkart Plus program as segment which aspires to expand its presence in India with benefits such as no-fee membership and choice on rewards. The scheme guarantees hassle-free online shopping experience across the country, with major attractions such as free & fast delivery, simplified customer support, and easy access to major sale events on its platform. The scheme is a non-fee program that works on its ‘Plus Coins’ feature, where all customer will begin to earn coins with each purchase they make post the launch. These coins hold the key to access benefits across Flipkart’s tie-ups in shopping, travel and content domain.

Flipkart’s CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy was quoted saying, “At Flipkart, we deeply understand the Indian customer and solve for them meaningfully. This means that everything we do is not just limited to a particular section of the society but appeals to a wider audience. With that in mind, we have crafted Flipkart Plus as India’s most inclusive customer benefits program and we’re extremely thrilled to launch it this Independence Day,”

In a departure from standard practice, Flipkart Plus will extend rewards from a pool of tie-ups that customers can choose from. With its mighty presence, popularity and design that caters to the needs of all kinds of customers, Flipkart Plus is expected to leave a strong impact on rewards sector and expedite the evolution of e-retail industry in India, the company stated.

Flipkart Plus vs Amazon Prime

Flipkart’s rival firm Amazon offers Amazon Prime subscriptions at an annual fee of Rs. 999. This scheme offers fast and free delivery, exclusive sales for Prime members, and early access to Amazon’s primary sales. Apart from the above, the scheme also includes 1-year subscription to Amazon Prime Videos and Amazon Prime Music apps in India.
