Banking on the success of Redmi 4A and 5A, Xiaomi has launched their successor – the Redmi 6A. This affordable Redmi phone manages to add more features without any increase in price. However, it won’t go unrivaled. (हिंदी में पढ़िए)

Redmi 6A vs Zenfone Lite L1 Comparision: Design and Build Quality

Redmi 6A’s back panel looks a bit outdated and monotonous, but not as much as to be a deal breaker. The phone comes with significant bezels around the display and the speaker is placed on the back which is far from ideal. It includes a Type-A micro USB port at the bottom and a 3.5mm jack on the top. The volume rockers and power buttons are placed to the right of the device.

Zenfone Lite L1, on the other hand, has a neater look comes with a plain design on the back which is made up of polycarbonate and is given a metallic finish. This phone also comes with noticeable bezels, but there isn’t much to complain about in this aspect. The speakers are bottom firing and the volume control and power button on placed on the right side. On the top, we have the 3.5 mm jack and on the bottom, we have a Type-A micro-USB port.

On the design front, Zenfone scores slightly higher than Redmi because of the bottom mounted speaker and neater design.

Redmi 6A vs Zenfone Lite L1 Comparision: Display

Both Redmi 6A and Zenfone Lite L1 come with a 5.45-inch HD+ (1440×720 pixels) IPS display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. There isn’t much to differentiate in both the devices except the fact that Redmi 6A has an option to tweak the display settings (color temperature, hue) – which is a huge bonus for anyone fastidious about the display quality.

Furthermore, Redmi’s device is slightly brighter and more reader-friendly with noticeably lower blue tint. Other than this, both the phones are almost similar in this aspect.

Redmi 6A vs Zenfone Lite L1 Comparision: Performance

This is where things get interesting, the Redmi 6A features a 2GHz quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor manufactured on 12nm process. This is a major deviation from the earlier Redmi 5A which used a Snapdragon processor. Redmi 6A runs on a RAM of 2GB and comes with either 16GB/32GB internal storage which can be expanded till 256GB (dedicated slot). The phone lacks dual 4G support.

Zenfone Lite, on the other hand, encompasses Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC octa-core CPU which is underpinned by 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. This phone also has a dedicated slot to expand storage up to 256GB.  This one too lacks dual 4G. Just as Redmi 6A, you can run 4G VoLTE on any of the two SIM cards, but not on both simultaneously.

Our experience with the two phones makes it amply clear that the Zenfone Lite L1 is the better performer of the two. Since these are extreme low-end phones, it would be unfair to expect them to run heavy loads, but the Zenfone Lite L1 fairs considerably better in day-to-day usage.

Redmi 6A vs Zenfone Lite L1 Comparision: Camera

Coming to the camera performance, both the cameras have the similar 13MP rear + 5MP front camera setup with slight variations in the apertures. Both phones have similar camera performance and are far from perfect. However, it doesn’t make sense to scrutinize the cameras at this price point.

Redmi 6A vs Zenfone Lite L1 Comparision: Software

On the software front, Redmi 6A is powered by Android Oreo 8.1 based MIUI 9.6 and includes a lot of bloatware which pushes ads and hinders the user experience. Otherwise, MIUI is pretty easy to handle and gives its users a myriad of features. Mi provides time to time updates for MIUI and this can be desirable for a lot of people.

Zenfone Lite L1, on the other hand, runs on Android Oreo-based ZenUI 5.0. Though this phone has bloatware, it does not induce any ads and the bloatware can be uninstalled. The ZenUI on Lite L1 is lighter and more efficient.

All said and done, the ZenUI should be a better choice of the two. Ads being pushed on your phone can be a huge letdown.

Redmi 6A vs Zenfone Lite L1 Comparision: Battery, Connectivity

Redmi 6A packs a battery of 3000 mAh and comes with the traditional 5W charger. We cannot expect much in this aspect keeping in view the price of the device. The 3000 mAh battery should suffice the device to take it through a typical working day. Zenfone Lite L1 also has similar specification with regard to the battery life. So there isn’t much left to differentiate between the devices in this aspect.

Connectivity features also remain same on both phones.

Redmi 6A vs Zenfone Lite L1: Verdict

All in all, both the phones pack some good features at this price segment. But when the two devices take against each other, Zenfone Lite L1 scores slightly higher than Redmi 6A in most of the aspects – particularly the performance and software.
