But the real challenge to the rule comes while battling it off in the entry-grade segment. That’s precisely where the recently launched Realme C1 will compete against the Redmi 6A.

The Redmi 6A succeeds one of the best selling phones of last year. The Realme C1 selling for the same price tries to better the best. Does it succeed? The detailed comparison of Realme C1 and Redmi 6A that follows should answer that. Let’s begin.

Realme C1 Vs Redmi 6A Comparison: Design and Build Quality

Xiaomi hasn’t paid much heed to design of their budget devices and remains the case for Redmi 6A. The almost three-year-old triple-layer back panel of the 6A feels tedious. There is ample bezel surrounding the 18:9 panel and yet the loudspeaker is mounted on the back panel, which causes the audio to muffle when the phone is resting on a plain surface.

The Realme C1, on the other hand, dazzles with modern design elements including a notch screen, 2.5D curved display glass on the front, and a glass-finish back panel- and it’s also the most affordable phone to include these traits.

The Realme 2 is a lot more premium and stylish. It is offered in Ocean Blue and Deep Black which creates a 3D effect illusion based on the angle of light reflecting from the surface.

Besides, the Realme C1 bundles a good quality a see-through case which is certainly an additional reason to tempt affordable phone buyers.

Realme C1 Vs Redmi 6A Comparison: Display

The Realme C1 also outscores Redmi 6A on the display front. The Xiaomi phone flaunts a 5.45-inch HD+ (1,440 x 720 pixels) display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and 72.7 percent screen-to-body ratio. There is no Gorilla Glass protection on top which makes the Redmi 6A display more prone to damage.

The Realme C1, on the other hand, comes with a bigger 6.2-inch large display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 88.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. Unlike the competition, the young brand hasn’t really compromised on Corning toughness glass to keep the price under a check. The C1 boasts of Gorilla Glass 3 to ensure better protection against accidental drops and scratches.

In terms of colors reproduction and quality, the Realme C1 display appears to produce more vivid colors, has better contrast, and offers better dynamic range.

Realme C1 Vs Redmi 6A Comparison: Performance

As far as performance is concerned, the Redmi 6A is driven by Mediatek’s Helio A22 (MT6762) chipset which is an entry segment offering. The quad-core chipset is based on Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 2GHz fabricated using 12nm manufacturing process.

The Realme C1, on the other hand, is the cheapest Snapdragon 450 chipset based smartphone in the market. The octa-core chipset is clearly a more dependable and better performer of the two mobile platforms.

We compared 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variants of both these phones and in our experience, the Snapdragon backed Realme C1 takes lesser time to load apps and offered slightly better multitasking experience. Both of these are not exactly gaming devices, but still, casual gaming worked fine.

Realme C1 Vs Redmi 6A Comparison: Camera

Camera performance still continues to be the most attractive feature for buyers. As far as these two budget smartphones are concerned, the Realme C1 is equipped with dual rear camera setup of a 13MP sensor coupled with a 2MP depth sensor. As for the Redmi 6A, it flaunts a single 13-megapixel rear camera.

The difference is clearly evident from the camera samples we took. The images captured in daylight from Realme C1 clearly have more details and looks better. The camera locks focus quickly and the metering holds remarkably well in tricky lighting.

The Redmi 6A too manages to take some decent shot, though it lacks the portrait mode for the rear camera and 2X zoom which Realme C1 users can enjoy, courtesy the secondary sensor. As for the front camera, the two phones are really close, but the yellowish cast in selfies captured by Redmi 6A makes them a bit unnatural.

Realme C1 Vs Redmi 6A Comparison: Software and Face Unlock

Next up is software. The Realme C1 runs on Color OS while the Redmi 6A is powered by MIUI 9.6. Both interfaces are based on android Oreo and are evenly matched in terms of features and experience. The Redmi 6A is, however, pre-installed with a lot more apps many of which also push annoying advertisements.

Both of these phones lack a fingerprint sensor and so both rely on face unlock for convenient unlocking. In our experience, the Face Unlock is equally consistent and fast on both of these phones.

Realme C1 Vs Redmi 6A Comparison: Battery, Connectivity, and Loudspeaker

The Realme C1 packs massive 4230mAh battery which is 1230mAh more than what you get on Redmi 6A. With AI power master at the helm, the Realme C1 manages to last a full day even on heavy usage. The Redmi 6A, on the other hand, lasted for almost 11 hours on similar usage. However, both these phones don’t support fast charging.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 6A also loses out in connectivity front. It doesn’t support Dual SIM Dual VoLTE which is need of the hour at least in India.

The Realme C1 has a bottom firing loudspeaker which is quite loud and clear. Its competitor, the Redmi 6A can match up in terms of quality, but the speaker placement on the back panel puts it at a disadvantage.

Realme C1 Vs Redmi 6A Comparison Verdict: Which One Should You Buy?

Xiaomi Redmi 5A had an unrivaled run last year, but its successor, the Redmi 6A is duly challenged and even bested by the Realme C1. The Redmi 6A isn’t a bad phone purse, but it’s just that the Realme C1 has set the bar really high.

If you’d been reading, you may have also concluded that the Realme C1 is a better choice of the two and wins by a wide margin. From a tempting and refreshing design to cameras or performance to better connectivity options – the Realme C1 is certainly the best phone under 7K this year.

Let’s face it, Realme did their homework, the C1 really kills the Redmi 6A. Even though the C1 is like a clone of the Oppo a3s, still, it is so much better than the 6A.
