After Xiaomi cleared the air about specifications of its brand new Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite yesterday at their global launch event in Spain, curiosity about other upcoming Xiaomi phones is building up. New reports shed light on Xiaomi’s plan to unveil a new midrange Snapdragon 845 powered phone that’ll belong to a new “Pocophone” series.

The device has been Codenamed ‘Beryllium’ by its developers. Putting together reports from various sources, the details for the Pocophone have been listed below.

Leakster Roland Quandt revealed that the first smartphone to be launched under this series will be named Pocophone F1. The mobile recently appeared on US FCC, European ECC, and Taiwan’s NCC which suggests that its launch might be imminent.

Generally, Xiaomi devices can be broadly categorized into Flagship Mi-series or affordable Redmi series. The Pocophone falls in neither of the two categories, considering the specifications that have surfaced to date.

The phone will reportedly be available in blue and grey colour options, and will sport anywhere up to a 6.4-inch FHD+ (2160×1080 pixels) notched display with 18:9 aspect ratio on a 76×151 mm body, slightly larger than OnePlus 6. It is expected that the bezels should be very thin to accommodate the panel size. The phone will carry a dual camera setup at the back as well.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 features (expected)

The Xiaomi’s Pocophone will box a 256QAM LTE chip, which suggests that Xiaomi might employ a Snapdragon 845 SoC to operate the phone, thus making it the only phone other than Xiaomi’s top end Mi8 to carry the powerful Snapdragon 845 on board. This SoC will be assisted by a 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB internal memory. The handset will also accommodate supporting features like dual-band Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth, Band 40 LTE support, fingerprint sensor and NFC.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 Price (Expected)

Xiaomi Pocophone is estimated to cost around €420 (approx Rs 33,800) for its 64GB memory + 4GB RAM variant and €460 (approx Rs 37,000) for the 128GB memory + 6GB RAM version. The device is fairly priced at the above rates given that the powerful Snapdragon 845, which is present in Xiaomi’s hi-end Mi8, will be the brain motoring this phone.
