Sony India expands its premium television lineup with two of its flagship products: BRAVIA 9II and BRAVIA 7II. They introduce a genuinely different approach to how a TV produces color rather than an incremental brightness bump (what we’ve seen other brands do over the years).

A Backlight With No Filter In The Way
Most LED and Mini LED TVs still rely on a white or blue LED backlight passing through a color filter, which eventually generates the picture. Sony’s new RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro skips that filter step entirely. It drives red, green, and blue LEDs independently.
The result, as the company claims, is the largest color volume the company has achieved in a home television screen. It also results in deeper blacks, reduced blooming, and color consistency that holds up from wider viewing angles, even in bright rooms.

What Backs The Tech, And What It Costs
Both TVs run on Sony’s Cognitive Processor XR for real-time scene optimization, and support Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced, alongside Google TV with Gemini integration arriving later via OTA.
The flagship BRAVIA 9II starts at ₹5,39,990 (75-inch), going up to ₹6,69,990 for the 85-inch model. The BRAVIA 7II is more accessible, starting at ₹2,21,990 for the 55-inch variant.

I think True RGB is a more meaningful leap than most yearly TV refreshes. Particularly, how it addresses OLED’s biggest weakness, brightness in well-lit rooms, without giving up the color accuracy OLED is known for. If Sony’s efficiency claims hold up in real-world use, in well-lit living rooms or halls, this could be the most credible LED-based challenger to OLED I’ve seen from any brand this year.
