TL; DR

  • Galaxy S25 series sees ₹5,000 price hike across all models; it allegedly will start at ₹84,999 for vanilla S25.
  • S25 Ultra tops ₹1,64,999 for the 16 GB + 1 TB model.
  • Questions arise on how Samsung is going to justify the price hike.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is set to launch on January 22, featuring three models: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Additionally, the Galaxy S25 Slim is expected to launch in May, though it might get showcased during the January event. Thanks to Tarun Vats’ leak on X (formerly Twitter), we now know the retail prices for the Indian market. Here’s how they stack up:

Galaxy S25 Series Pricing in India

Galaxy S25
• ₹84,999: 12+256 GB
• ₹94,999: 12+512 GB

Galaxy S25+
• ₹1,04,999: 12+256 GB
• ₹1,14,999: 12+512 GB

Galaxy S25 Ultra
• ₹1,34,999: 12+256 GB
• ₹1,44,999: 16+512 GB
• ₹1,64,999: 16+1 TB

Let’s talk about this pricing. Starting at ₹84,999, the Galaxy S25 offers 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. But when you compare it with the OnePlus 13, which provides 24 GB RAM and 1 TB storage for ₹85,000, Samsung’s decisions feel underwhelming. At ₹85,000, 512 GB should have been the standard—or the price should have been lower.

The price hike could be justified by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is reportedly much more expensive this year. However, with no major meaningful upgrades beyond Galaxy AI, the chip, more storage than last year, and design tweaks, the hike feels a bit hard to digest for many users.

How will Samsung justify the hike?

It’ll be interesting to see if the S25 series can justify its premium pricing, especially when competitors like OnePlus, OPPO, vivo, and even Google are offering more aggressive value propositions. Samsung might justify the hike by pointing to 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM as standard, even on the base S25, plus the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

But the Ultra at ₹1,34,999 and the Plus at ₹1,05,000 feel hard to defend without major upgrades. Competing brands like OnePlus and OPPO offer more value, making Samsung’s pricing tough to digest. What do you think—does the price hike make sense, or is Samsung asking too much?
