Now that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are out, Samsung’s entire focus will be on its mid-range segment for the next few months. The South Korean firm’s next upcoming device could be alleged Galaxy J8 that has visited benchmark site, Geekbench, twice in as many months.

First, it was in January when an image showing benchmark result of an unknown Samsung device with model number SM-J800FN was leaked. Now, another image has surfaced on the internet containing results, although this time with a different model number, SM-J800FN. The two phones are allegedly Galaxy J8 and its bigger ‘Plus’ variant.

Samsung Galaxy J8 Plus Specification (Expected)

As per the new leak, the SMJ800FN or the Galaxy J8 Plus boasts a faster chipset and more RAM compared to the Galaxy J8. The J8 is powered by 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7885 SoC paired by 3GB of RAM whereas the Plus variant rocks 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM.

The Geekbench result showed Galaxy J8 Plus scoring 749 points with 3708 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. However, it is to be noted that Snapdragon-powered J8+ will only be launched in the US or South Korea while the rest of the world will see the inclusion of equivalent Exynos chipset on the phone.

The rest of the Galaxy J8 Plus specs are still a mystery, but what we do know now is that it will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

We are still waiting for Samsung to confirm the leaks and announce the availability of its Galaxy J8 and J8+ phones. It is speculated that the phones will be unveiled by the firm in the second quarter of 2018. Once launched, the Galaxy J8 will succeed Samsung’s last year J-series model, J7, as the new mid-range devices.
