We already have a fair idea of what the Google Pixel 8a (roundup) might offer. However, in a fresh leak, a tipster has posted images of the phone in all its colors from several different angles. What separates this leak from the previous ones is the difference in colors. While we were the first to publish the 360-degree video and 5K renders of the Pixel 8a, the colors shown in the new images are different.

The leak includes four high-quality images of the Pixel 8a. Looking at the images, we couldn’t help but compare the phone with the Pixel 7a. So buckle up, as we have quite a lot to say about the Pixel 8a’s design, how the curved corners compare to the boxy Pixel 7a, and that ugly bottom chin.

Pixel 8a Vs. Pixel 7a: Colors

Pixel 8a Vs. Pixel 7a: Colors

On April 26, 2024, renowned leaker Evan Blass posted several high-quality images of the Pixel 8a. The photos show the phone in each of its rumored colors: Bay, Mint, Porcelain, and Obsidian.

The Bay (or blue) finish of the Pixel 8a seems to have a more heavy and saturated hue than the Pixel 7a. The same goes for the Mint finish, which appears to be more vibrant than the Mint Pixel 8.

The Obsidian or black variant seems to have a similar finish to the Pixel 8’s. However, Porcelain is a new color with a deep off-white finish. On all the colors, the horizontal camera visor carries a metallic. Further, the back panel has a matte finish, unlike the glossy finish on the Pixel 7a.

Pixel 8a Vs. Pixel 7a: How Does The Design Compare?

As the leaked images show, the Pixel 8a has a punch-hole display in the front, with symmetrical bezels on three sides. However, the curved edges draw more attention than anything else, except the broad chin at the bottom, which, keeping in mind the phone’s launch year, feels quite outdated.

In comparison, the Pixel 7a had a more boxy look, which somehow made the lower chin less noticeable. The way the Pixel 8a’s side frame extends to the rear panel is much more curvy. In theory, this should give the phone a better in-hand feel. However, to what extent that works, we’re eager to find out.

Pixel 8a Vs. Pixel 7a: Upgraded Specifications

The Pixel 8a should come with slightly better specifications than its precursor. For instance, it could feature a 6.1-inch 120Hz OLED screen. Under the hood, the smartphone should run on a variant of the Tensor G3 SoC. Further, it could also sport a slightly larger battery than the Pixel 7a. However, the rest of the specifications might remain similar.

Even so, we’re expecting the Pixel 8a to feature some exclusive generative AI-based features. Perhaps the ones that were exclusive to the Pixel 8 series will be available on the device. We’re talking about features like Magic Eraser, Magic Editor, Magic Audio Eraser, Video Boost, etc.

Given that Google and Samsung are closely working on new AI experiences for users, Google could release a new feature with the Pixel 8a and later expand it to other compatible devices.
