A Redmi flagship phone that’s Snapdragon 855-based has been in news for some time. Xiaomi itself has been teasing it, and yesterday confirmed the name of the phone as Redmi K20. Now Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain has hinted that the phone could be coming soon to India.

He took to Twitter to congratulate OnePlus Team on the launch of their new flagship OnePlus 7 Pro (review) while indicating that Flagship Killer 2.0 is coming soon. In his tweet, he refrained from sharing any specific details of the phone except Snapdragon 855 which was highlighted in the image he posted with his tweet.

“Congratulations @OnePlus team! 👏 There’s a new flagship in town. Flagship Killer 2.0: coming soon.. Hold my dragon!,” Jain tweeted.

Post that tweet, Xiaomi India has started their marketing campaign for the Redmi K20 by ruining teasers on digital media platforms like Youtube and websites where it is targeting competitors, specifically OnePlus 7 Pro.

With this move, Xiaomi hopes to convince prospective OnePlus 7 buyers to delay their buying decision till Redmi K20 hits India.

So far, Xiaomi has teased that its upcoming phone will be driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. It has also teased an in-display fingerprint sensor, a pop-up selfie camera, and a super-wide angle rear camera.

If various leaks and rumors are anything to go by, there is a possibility that Xiaomi actually releases two phones in its upcoming flagship Redmi K-series. While the base variant will be called the K20, there will be a slightly more premium K20 Pro version as well. It remains to be seen how accurate these rumors are but one thing is certain, now that OnePlus phones have moved from being flagship killers to mainstream flagships, Xiaomi wants to be the next ‘Flagship Killer’.
