The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has recently released the Find X8, a camera-centric flagship that offers outstanding hardware and software. However, due to its price, the phone competes directly with the iPhone 16, the latest flagship from Apple. If you’re wondering about the same, here’s how the Find X8 and the iPhone 16 compare.

Oppo Find X8 vs. iPhone 16: Design

Dimensions

  • Oppo Find X8 measures 157.4 x 74.3 x 7.9 mm and weighs 193 grams.
  • Apple’s iPhone 16 measures 147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8 mm and weighs 170 grams.

Both the phones feature an aluminum frame, along with a glass front and back. However, the Find X8 has a circular camera module on the rear, while the iPhone 16 has a vertical pill-shaped camera cutout.

Oppo Find X8 vs. iPhone 16: Screen

Right off the bat, the Find X8 has a 6.59-inch AMOLED 120Hz screen that supports 4,500 nits of peak brightness. The screen supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ formats for viewing high dynamic range content. Further, it has a resolution of 460 ppi. To protect the screen against scratches, Oppo has deployed Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

In comparison, the iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch Super Retina OLED screen that’s stuck with a 60Hz refresh rate and supports 2,000 nits of peak brightness. Like the Find X8, the screen also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 content. Additionally, it has a 460 ppi resolution. Protecting the display against damage is Apple’s Ceramic Shield Glass.

Oppo Find X8 vs. iPhone 16: Performance

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC

The Find X8 ships with a Dimensity 9400 SoC, which supports multimodal Gemini Nano on-device. The chipset’s cluster design includes one 3.63GHz prime core, three 3.3GHz performance cores, and four 2.4GHz efficient cores. On the Find X8, the chipset is combined with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Besides the CPU, the processor features the Immortalis G925 GPU.

For those wondering about the benchmark scores, the Dimensity 9400 SoC scores around 2.9 million points on AnTuTu 10 and around 2,711/8,632 in the single/multi-core GeekBench 6 performance test. Moreover, the processor does well, both in terms of day-to-day tasks and demanding workflows. Even playing video games is not a problem for the Find X8.

Apple A18 chip for the iPhone 16 series

The iPhone 16, on the other hand, runs on Apple’s A18 chipset, which features two 4.04GHz prime cores and four 2.20GHz efficient cores. Like the Dimensity 9400 SoC, the A18 is also based on TSMC-s second-generation 3nm fabrication technology. Besides the powerful chipset, the phone ships with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.

To draw a fair comparison, the iPhone 16 scored 1.7 million points in the AnTuTu 10 benchmark and 3,278/7,995 points in the single- and multi-core performance test on GeekBench 6. For those who aren’t aware, AnTuTu isn’t optimized to benchmark iOS; hence, iPhones always score poorly on the platform. However, iPhone 16’s single-core GeekBench scores are better than those of the Find X8.

Moreover, both phones provide similar performance.

Oppo Find X8 vs. iPhone 16: Cameras

Oppo Find X8 Camera Configuration

  • 50MP (f/1.8, 24mm) primary camera with dual-axis optical image stabilization.
  • 50MP (f/2.6, 73mm) Hasselblad telephoto camera for up to 3x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom, supports optical image stabilization.
  • 50MP (f/2.0, 15mm, 120-degree) ultra-wide sensor with autofocus.
  • 32MP (f/2.4, 21mm) selfie shooter.

Oppo has extended its partnership with Hasselblad, which fine-tunes its cameras. Users also get dedicated Hasselblad portraits and classic film-style portrait shooting modes. Additional features include 4K video at 60 fps, multi-scene video recording, high-speed capture, and iPhone-like live photos. The Find X8 also comes with a Quick Button that lets users capture pictures with ease.

iPhone 16 Camera Configuration

  • 48MP (f/1.6, 26mm) primary camera with sensor-shift optical image stabilization. The sensor also provides 2x lossless pictures.
  • 12MP (f/2.2, 13mm, 120-degree) ultra-wide sensor with autofocus and macro mode.
  • 12MP (f/1.9, 23mm) selfie shooter with autofocus.

The iPhone 16 comes with a couple of new camera features, including new Photographic Styles, Audio Mix for enhancing audio recording in videos, 4K video recording at up to 60 fps, and Dolby Vision HDR video recording (also available on the Find X8). Even the iPhone 16 comes with the Capture Button, which helps access the Camera app in an instant and capture pictures or browse through the camera modes.

Clearly, the Oppo Find X8’s camera is more versatile than the iPhone 16’s dual-camera setup, primarily due to the presence of the periscope telephoto sensor. While the iPhone 16 also provides 2x lossless zoom, it can’t beat the Find X8 at higher zoom ranges.

Oppo Find X8 vs. iPhone 16: Software

The Oppo Find X8 runs on ColorOS 15.0, which is based on Android 15. Key highlights of the operating system include an iOS-style Control Center, lock screen customization features and Dynamic Island-inspired notifications. Oppo has promised to provide five years of operating system updates and one additional year of security updates with the Find X8.

Oppo’s ColorOS 15 features the O+ Connect app, which transfers files from the Find X8 to iPhones. Further, the operating system also includes an Aurora Engine and another Tidal Engine. While the former looks after the system-wide animations, the latter manages chip resources.

Conversely, the iPhone 16 runs on iOS 18, which comes with a revamped Control Center, allows call recordings, native app locking, a customizable Home Screen, and a couple of Apple Intelligence features. Although Apple doesn’t promise software updates for a specific number of years, iPhones have received the latest updates for five to seven years, giving the iPhone 16 enough longevity.

Oppo Find X8 vs. iPhone 16: Connectivity

Regarding connectivity options, the Find X8 comes with 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.4 (with support for LE, aptX HD, and LHDC 5 codecs), GPS (L1 + L5), NFC, and a USB Type-C 3.0 port.

The iPhone 16 features Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.3, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C 2.0 port. Further, the phone also supports 5G. In theory, the Find X8 should provide faster data transfer speeds than the iPhone 16.

Oppo Find X8 vs. iPhone 16: Battery Capacity And Charging Speed

The Oppo Find X8 sports a 5,630 mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

In our review of the Find X8, we found out that the phone still had around 26% battery after a day of heavy usage, which included benchmarks, 1.5 hours of content streaming, around half an hour of gaming, and social media browsing.

The iPhone 16 features a 3,561 mAh battery that supports PD 2.0 wired charging, 25W MagSafe charging, 15W Qi2 wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wired charging. Even though the iPhone 16 has a smaller battery, it easily lasts a day of moderate usage.

In our review of the iPhone 16, we found out that the battery was around 47% at around 6 PM after three hours of screen-on time throughout the day (beginning with 90% battery).

Oppo Find X8 vs. iPhone 16: Price And Conclusion

Apple iPhone 16 Review with Pros Cons & verdict - Smartprix.com-26

The Oppo Find X8 and the iPhone 16 are priced similarly. Even so, the Find X8 offers a larger screen with a higher refresh rate, a capable processor, a larger battery, and, more importantly, a versatile camera setup that includes a periscope zoom sensor. Hence, it could be the perfect choice, especially for buyers who are into smartphone photography.

The iPhone 16 doesn’t have a dedicated zoom sensor. Hence, it shies away of the Find X8 in the camera department. However, beyond that, the iPhone 16 could be the right choice for someone who has been using iOS for a long time. Further, the phone has a smaller form factor, appealing to those who like smaller flagships.

  • The Oppo Find X8 with 256GB of onboard storage is available at Rs. 69,999.
  • The iPhone 16 with 128GB of storage is available at Rs. 79,999. However, you can find the phone at Rs. 74,900 at several retailers.
