TL;DR

  • Oppo Find X8 Series launching in China on 24th October.
  • Smartphones will have a quick capture button for ease of taking photos.
  • Camera design has also changed.

Last month, Apple launched the iPhone 16 Series which features a Capture Button that allows seamless clicking of photographs. Now one more brand has adopted this distinctive feature and is about to introduce it in the upcoming flagship series. Oppo Find X8 Series is all set to launch on 24th October in China and Oppo is introducing a Quick Button, similar to the capture button on iPhone 16 series. The Find X8 Series will include Find X8 and Find X8 Pro smartphones.

The position of the Quick Button indicates that Oppo hopes to make camera usage easier by introducing this button. Now a company executive has revealed more details about this button.

This physical camera shutter button is coming to the Oppo Find X8 series and Oppo’s Find series product manager Zhou Yibao has shared a lengthy post on Weibo explaining the reason behind this button.

The post talks about some ‘pain points’ where Oppo felt that there was a need for an easier and quicker way to click photos without using touchscreen controls. The exec also mentions personal experiences in freezing temperatures where the person wears gloves or a rafting trip where it is impossible to tap the screen to click photos due to water splashes and shaking raft. This is the reason why Oppo is bringing the Quick Capture Button to Find X8 series. It is different from the iPhone 16 series as it doesn’t have a capacitive touch area. It is an uncomplicated button only meant for clicking snaps.

Looking at the button, it feels like one will be able to press to take a photo and long-press to make a video with this button, however, there might be some other options as well which Oppo will announce on the launch day.

This time the camera design is expected to get various innovations. A significant change has been brought about by removing unnecessary camera icons on the lock screen. Users will now be able to use the physical shutter button meanwhile ensuring capturing perfect photos without navigating through menus.

Oppo has also laid focus on lightweight and slim design for the Pro variant thus overcoming the bulkiness that is associated with flagship cameras. The design of the shutter button is user-centric with three objectives in mind- ease of use, immediate camera activation, and aesthetic integration.
