TL; DR
  • WinFuture reports that OnePlus will imminently announce its exit from Europe and the United States.
  • European OnePlus stores are already sold out, with websites redirecting visitors to Oppo.
  • India and China remain, but OnePlus is expected to operate as a simplified Oppo sub-brand.

Earlier this month, we reported exclusively that OxygenOS and Realme UI are being discontinued, with all future OnePlus devices moving to Oppo’s ColorOS globally. That was the software obituary.

Now, a report from German tech outlet WinFuture this week allegedly closes the chapter for Western markets. OnePlus is exiting Europe and the United States, with an official announcement expected imminently.

OnePlus Is Leaving Europe And The US

More than a decade after its launch as the original “flagship killer,” inventing a new smartphone category, OnePlus is being absorbed in a way that it no longer exists as an independent brand in two of the world’s most scrutinized smartphone markets.

WinFuture’s sources report that OnePlus and Oppo might announce the withdrawal from Europe and the US any day now. European OnePlus websites have already been redirecting to Oppo for weeks, employees have either left or moved into new Oppo roles, and virtually all stock has sold out in OnePlus’s European online stores.

No new OnePlus products are planned for either region. The report also mentions that existing customers will receive software support and updates until end of life for their respective products.

What This Means For India

For India and China, WinFuture says OnePlus and Oppo remained deliberately tight-lipped during closed-door press conferences. Based on what is circulating, OnePlus will increasingly function as a simplified product line within Oppo rather than an independent brand.

The brand could still continue with a consolidated portfolio in India: N (with the N6 already out), Nord (premium mid-range), and the flagship series. After-sales support in India has already been silently merged into Oppo’s service network, as we first reported.
