OnePlus has launched a new series called the OnePlus N6, and it sits below the Nord CE6 Lite, bringing the OnePlus experience to a much more affordable price segment. The idea here is fairly simple: offer the essentials that most users care about, while keeping the price as accessible as possible.
On paper, the OnePlus N6 does seem to cover many of those essentials. You get a premium-looking design inspired by more expensive OnePlus phones, a 8,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging, IP64 protection, military-grade durability certification, OxygenOS 16, and a fairly extensive set of AI features.
However, once you move beyond the design and software experience, some compromises become easier to notice. So, is the OnePlus N6 worth considering, or are there better options available in this segment? Let’s find out in this review.

Things I Like About the OnePlus N6
1. Premium Design

The design is easily one of the strongest aspects of the OnePlus N6. The device takes clear inspiration from the OnePlus 15, Nord 6, and Nord CE6, and the result is a phone that looks significantly more premium than its segment would suggest.
The green color variant that I have with me looks excellent. The finish has a refined appearance, and the overall aesthetic gives the phone a clean and modern look.
The in-hand feel is equally impressive. Despite being an affordable smartphone, the phone feels solid and well put together, which definitely enhances the overall experience.
2. Excellent Battery Life

Battery life is another area where the OnePlus N6 performs very well. The massive 8,000 mAh battery comfortably lasts through a full day of usage, and even two days of usage with lighter tasks.
The phone supports 45W SUPERVOOC charging as well. It takes around 2 hours to fully charge the device from 0 to 100%, which is below average in 2026.
You also get bypass charging support, which directly powers the device during gaming sessions and helps reduce heat generation.
3. Durability

OnePlus has equipped the N6 with both MIL-STD-810H certification and IP64 dust and water resistance. The military-grade certification suggests better resistance against accidental drops and harsher environmental conditions, while the IP64 rating adds protection against dust and water splashes.
4. Speakers with 400% Volume Boost

The OnePlus N6 features a single speaker setup with support for 400% Ultra Volume mode. Loudness levels are surprisingly good, and the enhanced volume mode certainly helps while taking calls or watching content in noisy environments.
Audio quality itself is acceptable for casual media consumption, with vocals remaining fairly clear most of the time. The absence of stereo speakers is slightly disappointing though.
5. AI Editing Suite is Massive
OnePlus has included a fairly large collection of AI editing tools on the N6.
You get:
- AI Eraser
- AI Recompose
- AI Portrait Glow
- AI Perfect Shot
- AI Detail Boost
- AI Unblur
- AI Reflection Eraser
AI Eraser removes unwanted subjects from images, while AI Reflection Eraser can clean up glare and reflections with a single tap.
AI Portrait Glow attempts to brighten faces in poorly lit portraits, and AI Perfect Shot lets you replace facial expressions by analyzing similar images in your gallery. AI Detail Boost enhances image clarity, while AI Unblur sharpens moving subjects.

The AI features extend beyond photography as well. The Recorder app includes AI Summary, AI Transcript, and AI Clear Voice. Do note that transcription currently carries a monthly limit of 100 minutes.
6. OxygenOS 16 Experience
Software might be one of the strongest reasons to consider the OnePlus N6. The phone runs OxygenOS 16, which continues to offer a refined and feature-rich experience. The interface is not the smoothest, but customization options are plentiful.
You get Flux Themes, multiple font styles, split-screen functionality, drag-and-drop support, Glove Mode, and several smaller convenience features throughout the interface.
The new Outdoor Mode is a useful addition. It allows quick switching between up to four frequently used apps, making it particularly useful while traveling or commuting.
OnePlus promises two major Android updates and three years of security patches, which is decent for this segment.
4 Things I Wish Were Better On the OnePlus N6
1. 720p LCD Screen
The display is probably the biggest compromise on the OnePlus N6. You are getting a 6.8-inch 720p LCD panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. While scrolling might feel smooth, the lower resolution becomes noticeable while watching videos, reading text, or browsing social media.
The large chin and thick bezels further make the front look dated. At this price, an AMOLED panel would have significantly improved the multimedia experience. Even a 1080p LCD panel would have been appreciated.
2. Dimensity 6360

The MediaTek Dimensity 6360 paired with UFS 2.2 storage delivers acceptable everyday performance. For lighter tasks such as messaging, web browsing, and social media, the experience remains perfectly usable. However, stutters and slower app loading times do appear here and there. You’re not buying this phone for performance.
3. Average Camera Setup
The camera hardware is fairly basic. You essentially get one usable 50MP rear camera alongside a 2MP monochrome sensor.

There is no ultra-wide camera, macro camera, or OIS support. Video recording is capped at 1080p 60fps, and there is no support for 4K video recording or 4K video playback.

Daylight photos from the primary camera are decent and social-media ready, with good colors and reasonable amount of detail. However, image quality drops noticeably in lower lighting conditions. Video stabilization is also quite weak, resulting in shaky handheld footage.

4. Haptics Could Have Been Better
The OnePlus N6 uses a spring motor instead of an X-axis linear motor, so the feedback lacks precision, and the haptics are not particularly satisfying. The phone is also slightly on the heavier side, although it is easy to get used to over time.
Other Things to Note
Gaming performance is decent for casual users. The phone can handle popular titles like CODM reasonably well, although serious gamers may want more powerful hardware. The 5,300mm² VC cooling system keeps the phone cool during tasks like gaming (and also during charging to a certain extent).
You get a hybrid SIM slot, allowing users to either use two SIM cards or one SIM card alongside a microSD card. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner also remains fast and reliable during daily usage.
Review Verdict: Should You Buy the OnePlus N6?
The OnePlus N6 focuses primarily on practical everyday features. The premium design, excellent battery life, durability, OxygenOS experience, and extensive AI feature set help the phone deliver a well-rounded experience for casual users.
There are a few compromises though. The 720p LCD panel, average camera hardware, basic haptics, and modest performance package prevent it from becoming an easy recommendation for everyone.
If you want a better overall package, the Motorola G57 Power is worth considering. It offers a 1080p display, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a 7,000mAh battery, better cameras, similar durability, and stereo speakers. The only major drawback is the update policy, with just one OS upgrade (up to Android 17).
