TL; DR
  • Motorola has confirmed that the Edge 70 Max will launch in India on July 15 via Flipkart.
  • The phone will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, a 7,000 mAh battery, and 90W wired charging.
  • Motorola has also confirmed magnetic wireless charging support, a Quad HD+ LTPO display, and a 5,500mm² vapor chamber cooling system.
  • Camera specifications remain unconfirmed, although previous leaks have pointed to a 50MP Sony LYTIA sensor.

Motorola has revealed most of the key specifications of the upcoming Edge 70 Max ahead of its July 15 launch in India. Unlike recent Edge launches where most details came from certifications and leaks, Motorola itself has already confirmed the majority of the hardware through Flipkart teasers.

The Edge 70 Max will sit above the Edge 70 and Edge 70 Fusion in Motorola’s lineup and marks the company’s return to Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon platform in the Edge series.

Specifications

Motorola has confirmed that the Edge 70 Max will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The company is also advertising a 46% improvement in NPU performance for AI workloads compared to previous generation devices.

Cooling duties are handled by what Motorola calls the ArcticMesh cooling system, which includes a 5,500mm² vapor chamber.

On the front, the phone features a Quad HD+ LTPO display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a claimed peak brightness of 7,000 nits. The HBM brightness should be lower though. Motorola has also confirmed Gorilla Glass 7i protection, 10-bit color support, DCI-P3 color coverage, and a 95.12% screen-to-body ratio.

The battery capacity stands at 7,000mAh, paired with 90W TurboPower charging. Motorola has also confirmed magnetic wireless charging support, making this one of the few Android phones outside the Pixel and HMD ecosystem to support magnetic charging accessories. The company will also sell a separate 50W wireless charger with universal Qi compatibility.

The teaser page further confirms support for 120 FPS gameplay in BGMI, alongside a glass back panel and aluminum frame construction.

Camera specifications remain one of the few missing pieces. Earlier leaks have suggested a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 32MP front-facing camera, although Motorola has yet to officially confirm those details.

Given the specifications Motorola has already confirmed, along with the overall design and camera layout, the Edge 70 Max increasingly appears to be a rebadged version of the Lenovo Legion Y70 (2026). That wouldn’t be particularly surprising given Motorola and Lenovo’s shared hardware strategy across several products in recent years.

Launch Date

The Motorola Edge 70 Max will launch in India on July 15 at 12 PM and will be sold through Flipkart alongside Motorola’s own online channels. Pricing remains under wraps for now and will likely determine where the Edge 70 Max fits within Motorola’s increasingly crowded premium smartphone lineup.
