TL; DR
  • OnePlus may exit the US, UK, and EU markets, according to a tipster’s claim.
  • Shipments dropped 20% in 2024; market share in India and China has nearly collapsed.
  • Despite the chaos, the OnePlus 15T and Nord 6 are still on their way.

Once celebrated as the most value-driven smartphone brand, it is facing its most turbulent period yet. Renowned tipster Yogesh Brar claims that the brand may be preparing to scale back — perhaps even exit — key global markets including the United States, United Kingdom, and the European Union.

While the brand will continue to operate normally in China, its home market, it might stop selling its phone in the far western markets. Given that India is among the company’s key global markets, we might continue to get new variants. However, the tipster mentions that the market might only get “budget & mid-range products.

The Numbers Behind The Noise

The speculation isn’t coming out of nowhere. It is the company’s numbers that tell a grim story. OnePlus shipments dropped over 20% in 2024, falling from 17 million to under 14 million units, while its parent company, Oppo, saw growth during the same period.

In India, one of the company’s most important markets, the brand lost around 30.5% ofits market share year-over-year, leaving it with just 2.4% of the market. In China, the brand sits at an even more concerning 1.6%. Even a reported $14 billion cash injection from Oppo reportedly failed to reverse the slide.

What’s Still Coming From OnePlus

Some reports also suggest that the OnePlus 16 might be China-exclusive, effectively shutting out global buyers. OnePlus has denied that any shutdown is imminent. The India CEO publicly called the reports “false,” and OnePlus North America confirmed it “continues to operate, with full guarantee of users’ after-sales support, software updates, and rights commitments.”

The silver lining, for now, is that the OnePlus 15T is releasing in China on March 24, 2026. We’re not sure about the smartphone’s availability outside China, but it might debut in India between April and June 2026. Meanwhile, OnePlus India has confirmed the existence of the Nord 6, its first smartphone with a 9,000 mAh battery.
