OnePlus is launching the OnePlus 16 in China today, but the phone is not expected to reach India or other global markets. That leaves the OnePlus 16R as the likely flagship for Indian buyers. Tipster Yogesh Brar has now shared fresh details about a phone he says has reached the PVT (Production Validation Test) stage.
OnePlus 16R Specifications Leaked
According to Brar, the OnePlus 16R will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which is last year’s Snapdragon flagship. The phone is also said to feature a 165Hz display and a battery with a capacity of more than 7,500mAh. Brar adds that the same hardware is being tested under realme branding.
The camera setup is another notable change. The leak points to three 50MP rear cameras, including a dedicated telephoto lens. The OnePlus 15R skipped a telephoto camera, so its return would give the 16R more flexibility for zoom photography. Brar has not shared the telephoto’s zoom level or the sensor details.
OnePlus 16R India Launch and Expected Price
The OnePlus 16 launches in China today with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Official China teasers have also revealed a display refresh rate of up to 185Hz, along with a camera system that includes a 200MP main camera and a 50MP 3X telephoto lens.
The regular OnePlus 16 is not expected to launch outside China, leaving the 16R to take the top spot in OnePlus’ India lineup. The 16R should run ColorOS 17 (instead of OxygenOS 17), although OnePlus has yet to confirm anything.
Earlier reports have pointed to a possible India launch in December 2026 or early 2027, with pricing starting around ₹70,000. That would put it above the OnePlus 15R, which launched at ₹47,999.
